Hey,

Just got the phone yesterday, so far, impressed.

Just a few niggles. I have got my Gmail setup as POP. But I keep having to click send/recieve to send emails even so I have got it to check every 1 minute. Is there any reason for this?

Also is there a way of checking your balance with T-Mobile? I've always been impressed with Three, as you can check your balance for eveything on the actual phone. I suspect this isn't the same for T-Mobile?

And lastly, do I need to ring T-Mobile to enable picture/video messaging? My GF send me a vid last night but it told me to visit t-mobile.com to recieve it.

Thanks!

Andy

Not quite sure i understand you there but my mda is set to snd/receive every 30 mins so it will send emails every time it reconnects, and download new ones at the same time? Your never gonna get a email more than 30 mins after some ones sent one so no biggie?

T-Mobiles MMS service is iffy at best, sometimes they come through days later. Sometimes not all. Some times through to the handset, sometimes telling you to go to there site. Sometimes it wont work in 2g area but when u hit 3 g it comes through. So I wouldnt really worry atm

Well I have it checking every minute as I need/like to have emails to me quickly so I can respond quickly.

My Gmail has about 250 emails now after clearing it down from 3000 odd! Everytime the Vario connects to the send/recieve it goes through "1 of 250", "2 of 250" and so on, why? When all the emails are read on my Vario and on Gmail are read, why must it go through the whole of the emails? I'm sure my HP phone/ipaq never did this. It takes about 5 minutes for it to go through all of my emails, and within that 5 minutes I could have recieved an email.

Rather annoying :(

Thanks

I guess it means I'll have to delete my emails everytime so I have about 10 in there, certainly something i didn't want/expect to do.

But I'm sure it should search for unread/new emails rather than just search through emails I already have on the device.

Stupid!! And its annoying me!!

I dont really think thats necessary, no one would expect you to respond in less than 30 minutes. it will also decrease battery life by a great deal i would imagine?

Well there's no reason for it working this way! Like I said the HP worked in that way using Windows Mobile.

And I find it necassary for the record.

Well if its necessary why not use PUSH Email? although i believe this needs a constantly open data connection, although it may use less power than keep connecting and disconnecting?

And your hp phone is running WM it would have done this as there is no other way for it to work unfortunately.

You may well have to lash the firmware with a manufacturer rom rather than a Network operator one.

T mobile are murder for slowing down the os

Also, how does 3G work? My internet speeds seem rather slow, it always connects via GPRS, is there a way to change this, or is it just the location I'm always in that it doesn't pick up 3G?

Thanks

Damn...PUSH is only available when the device is connected to Networks and the like. Uses Exchange.

Damn x2.

Surely if your in a job where you need instant reliable email the company uses a exchange server?

Its to do with location, you will only get 3g when the phone displays a U by the signal strength

Check in Phone, Options, Band, Network Type - it should be set to Auto and not GSM. If the 3G service goes titsup*, as T-Mobile's has been known to, the only way to get a data connection is switching to GSM so GPRS takes over from UMTS.

* - It'll appear like you're connected but you can't actually access anything or send and receive mail - has happened to me twice in 4 months.

Even on 3G I've found the internet speed to be quite slow.

Don't know what T-Mobile's setup is but the proxy and DNS servers are shockingly slow. Changed then to an alternative and it absolutely blazes through now!

Only problem is MSN no longer works so it looks like I'll have to switch back to the default T-Mobile settings.:(

Thats wierd my msn works the same as it always did? which isnt very reliable to say the least. i prefer Agile messenger anyway as you can file transfer and send pictures. The only downer is Agile auto disconnects if theres no activity for some reason, where as msn when it works is excellent and keeps reconnecting all day long.

Try using agile with the proxy your using?

Whats the details for that one by the way>?
