mechanical engineering at uni . recomendations

Ooooh nice to see some fellow engineers on the site

I'm not doing a degree as such, currently working and going to college one day a week. Doing Electrical/Electronic Engineering at the mo ( ONC ) although I am aiming towards ending up with a HND

Not quite on par with a degree, but will have some experience to help even things out :)

Really enjoy engineering tbh, wish I had thought about doing it straight after leaving school rather than doing computing full-time, I suppose you live and learn eh!

I myself never did not do a degree, only did a HNC in Civil Engineering and i did that at Teesside. It was good and is endorsed by the local firms (Halcrow, Atkins, Arup, McAlpine).
I have 4yrs experience in highways engineering (basically designing and maintaining roads) and am now working as a consultant on a £50k plus package.

It really is a lucative market at the moment and with the olympic games construction due to start it is only going to get better (£5.xbillion to spend on the olympics). Basically that should create a lot of opportunities till 2012 and beyond!

That is music to my ears :D i'm currently working in the electrical maintenance field, hoping to expand my knowledge through a variety of areas over the coming years though

bradford uni do certified BEng endorsed by the institute of mechanical engineers. My friend did it and now hes working for amec.

to be honest with you it doesnt matter these days where you do your degree as there is a massive shortage of engineers in the Uk. i mean a HUGE shortfall.

Nice one !

Im looking at applying for BAE and a few other nice companies possibly with projects for the olympics. Im looking at a less technical role and looking more at project management and hopefully moving into consultancy asap.

50K as borat would say: NICE
