My precious G15 is not working anymore so i'm looking to buy a mechanical keyboard this time round, but I want one with dedicated media keys like volume control, pause, stop etc. Not combined on the F keys.

Not bothered about backlights or macro keys and my budget is £50-£100.
I will be playing StarCraft 2 the most and the occasional fps game, so if any avid sc2 gamers out there or anyone can recommended me a decent mechanical keyboard, please do!

Thanks.

No :_) I want a clicky clicky keyboard because they sound rewarding and well, I'd just like to try one out

Ha so it seems.

What is the difference between the Razer black widow and the Ultimate version? Worth the extra £40?

qpad 50 80 or 85 :) i have the 50 and its great :)

i've heard a lot about the razer products goin down hill and not as good nowadays

QPAD MX 85 for sure. Just bought one and is a great keyboard. A pricey option but a good investment!

If you go razer get the Stealth edition it uses the MX Browns instead of blues which are still quite clicky and has full 6KRO where as the none stealth editions are 3KRO.

do not buy a razer board with that budget. blue keys are irritating to type on and the quality of the board is overshadowed by better boards.
even the stealth edition boards suffer from poor build quality.

I have used nearly every mech board on the market and that board is simply not good enough for the money

the qpad MK85 is simply the best keyboard on the planet at the moment.
until CMstorm release the quickfire with red switches over here.

CM Quickfire. Almost filco quality board, but half the price.

the quickfire uses the exact same OEM as filco. so they are the same quality.

personally for me, it would be a toss up between a Qpad board and the Quickfire. they are both brilliant boards

just depends if you want the 10key and backlighting of the qpad.
the softtouch feel on the keys of the qpad is quite nice too.

but then, the price tag is a lot higher.

you need to ascertain which switch type you want. this is the most important step in a mech board purchase.

Isn't there a red switch version of the cm storm quick fire rapid ten keyless due any time now? I like the look of the one with the black switches but think reds would be better for gaming?

Ok so I did more research on switch types ( I did not know a single thing about them when I made this thread), and I think red or brown would suit me best. My job involves a lot of typing and college work too, and also play rts and fps games frequently.

Looked at the K90, has dedicated media keys which is a huge plus, though a lot of macro keys which I will never use.
Can't seem to find a brown switch with media keys.

Qpad 85 looks a winner too, though a tad expensive then what I want to pay. But if it will last me 4 years like my G15 then i'm all for it.

sounds like a reasonable conclusion :)
