My feelings:
Graphics:
- Very nice, love the more colourful units, and all the flags and pennants look cool (bit awkward when you've got several units in a melee though!).
- Love the grass, sort of soft look to the terrain which is nice
- Animations are nice, love the individual fights you get
Gameplay:
- Movement speed toned down which is nice
- Kill speeds still seem a little high, but the units are upgraded ones so waiting to see what they are like at the default settings
- Very difficult to get a feel for the AI as it's heavily scripted in the scenarios, some areas of concern (let's march my infantry VERY SLOWLY through the stakes while they get slaughtered by archers) but as above, willing to wait and see what it's like in normal battles.
- Interface is a bit awkward imo, probably because I'm used to Rome I guess, but as an example, I find the speed buttons quite awkward to use and they don't always seem to register
Overall it's very promising, I always preferred the setting and gameplay of Medieval over Rome (which provided a much more visceral feel imo) so I'm really looking forward to this.
I've also read that the demo is from quite an old build, and they are hoping to release a more up to date and more optimized demo closer to release (not sure how true that is though).
