What medieval weapon would you choose in a life or death situation?

Examples:

2 Gorillas are attacking you
A polar bear is attacking you
A pack of wolves are attacking you

What would have been your weapon of choice?

Not much is going to help you against bears as they are massive. Assuming you mean a hand weapon, and that we can't have firearms, I'd go for a polearm like a partisan, bill or glaive.

I wish I knew more about medieval weapons. I went to a live action replay of a medieval battle when I was a kid and it was AWESOME

. It left a really big impression on me. Maybe that is why I enjoy playing low fantasy RPGs so much?

A bow and arrow is the only thing that I can actually use with confidence, but it wouldn't do much good against an aggressive animal(s).
