Hey all

I have the OCZ Vertex 2E 60GB SSD (Part No. OCZSSD2-2VTXE60G).

Realised today my SSD boots up rather quick, but takes a good literal 40-50 seconds to shutdown just hanging on "Windows is shutting down" then eventually does go off.. So I wondered what was up - after checking the BIOS I realised it was in IDE mode and not AHCI! So I checked my registry and it already had the 'Start' reg file value as '0' so I rebooted, set to AHCI - booted up seemed about 2/3 seconds quicker maybe - restarted and still slow at shutting down hanging for 40-50 seconds..

Also downloaded the OCZ Toolbox and updated the firmware as it was outdated had 1.13 then 1.23 then 1.33 (latest) so it's all up to date also..

Did a read/write test with AS SSD, and it is appauling !! Tried using HD Tune Pro and Read speeds seemed good but couldn't let me do Write for some reason - just can't understand what is wrong..

Anyone have any bright ideas? Full rig specs are:

CPU - Intel Core i5 750 2.66GHz OC'd to 3.7GHz (Lynnfield) (Socket 1156)
Mobo - Asus P7P55D-E Intel P55 (Socket 1156) DDR3
RAM - G.Skill Ripjaw 8GB (4x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800 C8 1600MHz
GPU - Asus ATI Radeon HD 6950 OC 2GB GDDR5
PSU - OCZ ModXStream Pro 600w Silent SLI Certified Modular
HDD - The one as above and 1TB storage - 500GB Western Digital and 500GB Samsung F3 SpinPoint.

Screenies are below..

Use atto benchmark. Keep writing large amounts of data using uncompressed data and you will throttle that ssd.

Is your Windows set to delete / clear your pagefile at shutdown?

You gem, I knew it would be something small and simple I was forgetting.. Checked my registry and it was set to clear the pagefile on shutdown, changed it to 0 and did a test reboot and shutdown - shuts down in 3/4 seconds now.

Cheers bud. :)
