MeganeX superlight 8K

to expensive for me at the moment.
and i wonder what the spec PC would be to drive it at 8k efficently.
NVIDIA RTX Ampere architecture series
NVIDIA Turing GPU architecture
NVIDIA Ada Generation GPUs
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 or higher
*Note: The product will not operate with GPUs other than those listed above, such as the AMD Radeon series.
*Note: The number of monitors connected simultaneously with MeganeX superlight 8K depends on the performance of the GPU.

bit of a dea breaker on requirements, as im looking at AMD cards over NVidia tbh.

looks nice and light though.

from a usage view i feel you might end up with a lot of light bleed round the eyes im not sure you'll get a good fit.

Can it be used with eyeglasses?

No, it cannot be used with eyeglasses. However, it features a diopter adjustment range from 0 to -7. For users with farsightedness or astigmatism, optional add-on lenses will be available.

like the idea of being able to use it laying down, but cables can be a bit of an issue some times.

also cable managmeent (usb-c?). but its quiet light all things considered.
EDIT:
The package contains a converter box that connects to your PC with a displayport and USB cable (both around 1m) as well as a power adapter. Also included is a 3m USB-C to USB-C cable that connects the MeganeX superlight 8K to the converter box. So overall you get around 4m which should be long enough for most users. If more is needed, you can purchase our additional 5m Active Optical USB Cable that replaces the 3m cable between MeganeX superlight 8K and converter box.

I like the look of it and some of its specifications are really good imo but I don't want to have to go back to lighthouse tracking etc and I can't really afford to spends 1000s on something that will probably be obsolete in a few years.

@glenimp617 I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on the MeganeX brightness.

I was all set on going all in on a microOLED headset (the MeganeX, BSB2 or Dream Air) but pancake lenses sap ~90% of the microOLED screen's nits output apparently. 90%!!

It's hard to find decent facts but from what I can gather you therefore only get about 80 nits of brightness to your eyes from micro OLED panels via pancake lenses.

This sounds horrendous. I'm a huge OLED fan generally and love the values of infinite contrast and deep blacks, and I'm not a brightness whore when it comes my TV or monitors (all OLED by the way) - but sub 100 nits sounds really poor to me. My PSVR2 outputs ~260nits. I know its OLED panels have issues, but the experience is superb from the usual OLED blacks to peak brightness ratio when it's strapped on your face.

If this new crop of micro OLED headsets really are that dim then I may have to go Pimax Super, which I'm not keen on doing...

It's always a compromise of some sort.

I hated the PSVR2 displays due to the horrendous mura in low light scenes which ruined the entire point of having OLED displays. Also they were soft due to a filter to minimise the pentile subpixel layout. The Fresnel lenses with the tiny sweet spot and awful glare didn't help either.

Currently mainly using a Quest Pro which has really vibrant QLED displays with local dimming which gives great contrast, but the resolution isn't amazing and there are just not enough dimming zones so you can get haloing around bright objects on a dark background. You can mitigate this somewhat but you then reduce brightness.

I'll run a couple of laps at laguna seca, august at 1pm should tell me if brightness is an issue

Nice one. What's your current headset/ previous? What will you be comparing it to?
too many, take your pick

PSVR1, PSVR2, Quest2, Quest3, QuestPro, HTC Vive Pro, Pimax 5K, 8KX, Crystal Light, Pico 3, Pico 4.......and a reverb g2 v2!

One of the best experiences I had (psvr2) with brightness was actually a night time race with the other cars headlights shining through into your rear view mirror. That, and also having the dashboard lights look like they were actually illuminated.

Will test all this in the meganex :D

You never had a Reverb G2???!

That's a lot of headsets, look forward to your thoughts on the Megan....

Subbed. Very interested in finding out how you get on with this headset. If it's gobsmack good I might possibly splash the cash on it but it'd probably mean I'd be gagging for a 5090 to complement it.
Mind you, that'd be Circa four and a half grand to get battered in iracing. Erm,.... Nah. Still interested though.

I'm sticking with my 4090. I reckon it will still look good at a lower res, and this is what I'll be mainly focused on. Getting the best balance between resolution, MSAA, eye-candy and maintaining 90fps.
