Question - how much did all those cleaning products set you back?

I dont know, I've collected them over a period of time, and some of the stuff was christmas gifts etc...

But rough prices..

Megs Gold Class wash £15 for a big bottle
Megs NXT Tech wax £15
Megs washmit £8
Megs Quickclay: £13
Megs Scratchx: £9
Megs applicator pads: £4 for 2
Autoglym Car Glass Polish: £8
Autoglym Super resin Polish: £8

Sooo thats £80. Not quite as bad as it sounds though, becuase:

a) The wash will last about a year
b) The Gold Class wash, NXT tech wax, 1 applicator pad and the wash mitt came in a pack with some Megs glass cleaner as well for £34.99
c) Autoglym stuff was all christmas presents :p
d) I collected the rest of the stuff over a large period of time :p

For how clean your car looks, that's not bad at all.

Still just looks like a silver Mondeo though...... :p

Dunno if I would spend £80 on mine, then again, I doubt anyone would. :p

Like I said, I didn't just go and spend 80 quid on car cleaning stuff, probably half of it was christmas stuff with vouchers and what have you, the rest of which ive built up after 2 years or so :p

I'll rephrase:

I wouldn't use £80 worth of stuff on my car. :D

I would, on one of them. Thing is, £80 would only get about half of the Oldsmobile cleaned.....so it would have to be the Fiat if I was going to spend money on cleaning products :)

Oh I would use £80 if it were fox's mondeo and I owned it. However mine looks like somthing out of Mad Max so I just give it a hosedown or a blitz through the automatic machine if I am feeling ritzy. :D

Given that I've a) Not done it for over a year and b) It's the RR day tommorrow, I felt I really ought to actually make use of the vast amounts of car care junk I've collected over the years and do a PROPER clean/polish/wax on the Mondeo.
How many extra broken horses and torks do you think it will have given you? :D

I seem to recall you giving me a nice slating on irc, stating how you disliked people who bang on about cleaning their cars..

seen the light, eh? ;)

looks smart Fox.

did my rover the other day as well aftr getting me scrapyard alloys, the difference was pretty amazing however I only used Turtle wax rapid wash and dry and turtle wax polish. took me ages and was worse than doing an hour in the gym :p

certainly worthwhile hours spent though.

only downside is the missus wants me to do hers :p

As you say, it's hard to show how clean a silver car is but I'm sure it'll be gleaming in the sun tomorrow.

Once you've got a decent coating of wax on the car you'll find that you don't need to wash it half as often, the MR2 used to get washed about once per month as the dirt just didn't stick.

What do you guys to 'black-up' the tyres. Spent 3 hrs cleaning the LCR with the AutoGlum set I got with the car last sat...but grey tyres are letting it down :(
