Memory foam beds

All you pansy's and your memory matresses. Nothing beats the good old classic dodgy springed bed!!

"eee eeee, eeee eeee, eee eee"

Cant remember what model of mattress I have (im not that anally retentive) but it's 100% memory foam, absolutely brilliant for sleeping on and great for other bedroom activities as well.

Takes 4 people on it fine :D

I just bought a new mattress and did some research.

Reflex Foam = cheap knock off of memory foam. If you are going to get one ensure it is Memory foam, not reflex.

Secondly, I opted for pocket sprung/memory foam top layer combination after doing lots of reading. One author made a good point being:

Any numpty can cutup a piece of foam, but it requires a professional process to construct a pocket sprung mattress.

I didn't like any that much that I tried to be honest but it seems to be a marmalade kind of thing. I just went for a 1000 pocket sprung mattress and that has excellent support for my needs. Has a silk soft top on it so it regulates naturally too! The one (dodgy 10 spring mattress) that came with my flat had seen some action and was mega un-comfy and made a right racket when going for some piledriving so now I'm more or less in heaven ;).

I sleep on a firm sprung matress at the moment and every so often i'll get a stiff painful back (not bad for 17 really) and sleep for 10-12 hours to wake up still knackered, but whenever i have stayed round a freinds house, who has a memory foam mattress i wake up and i feel much looser and with more energy.
What you've got to ask yourself is if it is worth the investment and can you afford it anyway.

my wife bought one last weekend but I'm not convinced still it works for her so hey ho.

I've always wondered about memory foam matresses... they keep you supported etc so you are comfy and don't move about in the night...

however I've always been told that a firm mattress is much better for your back than a a soft one because the firmness means you will end up moving about a bit during the night to get comfy again which is good for the back as you're not set in one position all night long???

So which is best for your back???

I sleep face down, I'd probably suffocate in a foam matress! (I actually sleep on my front with my head to the side, not flat on my face.)

I don't get this, do you sleep chest down for the entire 8 hours? I must roll around so many times, which often leads to me sleeping on my arms.

Got a memory foam mattress 3 years ago, most comfy sleep I've ever had. I'm now unable to get a good nights sleep on anything else.

Our plumbing went in the loft and the majority of the water leaked out onto our bed (thankfully we were not in it as that would have not been a pleasant experience)

The foam retained about 99.9% of the water that fell on it effectively saving the living room and electricals from being damaged.

Been at my parents house for a while now, not slept nearly as well and am getting a bit of a sore back. However I got a memory foam pillow the other week and that improved my nights rest considerably, however the bad back has not diminished. Cant wait to go home and sleep on our new memory foam bed.

So Memory foam, great for sleep, great in a flood situation.
