Hello,

I have a Dell Desktop computer its a Optiplex 380 that has 2 sticks of 2Gb DDR 3 memory.

The memory is rated on the box at 1066Mhz.

CPU-Z is reporting the memory is running at DRAM Freq @ 399Mhz, should it not be 1066Mhz

Also running Win XP wit SP3 CPU Z reports memory @ 3292Mb, not 4Gb

The CPU in the system is a Intel Dual Core E5300 2.6Ghz 775 LGA on Intel G41 Express Chipset

Thanks for the help :)

Win XP is the reason you are seeing 3.2 gb not 4gb. If you have a 32bit operating system thats your lot. I think the system will only see 4gb as a whole including and gfx ram.

To see the full 4gb+ and any ram fomr gfx you need a 64bit operating system.

With regards Ram speed there should be an option in your bios to select its speed. I know mine underclocks automatically to 1333 but its just a case of selecting 1600 in the bios.

What are the full specs of your pc including 32/64bit os?

Ok so windows xp 32 bit is holding the ammount of RAM back, thought it would be that.

Its a Dell machine and it reports 800Mhz RAM speed in the BIOS with no option to change it to 1066Mhz

Any ideas ?

Thanks Ben

Are you able to manually set the memory timings and speed? Or maybe a bios update, if dell do one, may add more options? **dont update bios unless you know what you're doing**

Can't change any settings in the BIOS. Must be because its a Dell BIOS.

Not to worry will just leave the memory at what it is :)

Thanks Ben
