Memory, which?

Damn! Need a new Wireless card now :'( I know they are cheap but took me a while to hunt this one down due to better compatibility with my Router and Telco's DSLAM. I managed to squeeze a better connection with my Router as it has inbuilt tweaks and the wireless card chipset matched all. Ahwell, no great problem. Will have to find another or use Ethernet...

Ethernet is always better if its an option!

Sorry again.

Is your router far from your PC? Ethernet is miles better if it is (and if it were me and my PC was far from my router, I'd still buy a behemoth 10m ethernet cable).

Yeah, quite a way. I could move everything around but got my Sky box connected also and PS3 VIA Ethernet. I'll find a way, shouldn't be a major problem...

No, I have four but due to the location of everything I have my Router next to my TV in the living room so I can connect my Sky box up for Anytime+.

My PC is at the opposite end... To much equipment needing Internet Access.

I have a Homeplug which is connected up to another PS3 in the house, I could use that for now...

Well, now I can't wait for my componants to arrive so I can start building :)

Let's hope delivery is on-time. DPD =

Again, thanks Barry. You have been a great help and I will keep you updated on the build throughout...

ShaVerZ :)

P.S. Do you think I will notice much difference with general performance against my old rig as listed below or will it mainly be gaming where I will notice?

Antec Nine Hundred Gaming Case
Coolermaster 600w PSU
Samsung SH-S183L 18x Burner Lightscribe SATA Black
Noctua NH-U12F CPU Heatsink and Fan 120mm
2x GeIL 2GB PC6400 800MHz DDR2 DUAL CHANNEL KIT (4x1GB)
2x Western Digital Caviar SE16 320GB S300 16MB
Retail Nvidia 8800 GTS 640MB GDDR3
Intel Quad Core™ Q6600 2.4GHz @ 3.2GHz
Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3P

Thanks again /all

I've found DPD to be good - they give you an hour slot to expect it in too, on the morning of delivery :)

You'll see a nice difference, especially in games!

As SSD, if you can afford one, would make it seem much faster again, the Crucial M4 is known to be reliable, and its fast:
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-009-CR
That would fit OS and some games on, with the rest on your HDDs. Can always save that for an upgrade later :)

You're welcome Shane... I'm glad I could help :)

Regarding contrast with your new and old rigs, you will definitely notice a big improvement especially in games as beejjacobs said. DDR3 ram is much superior to DDR2 and considering you are going from 800MHz to 1600MHz with 4x better RAM capacity, too, you'll be laughing.

I had the exact same Q6600 but I OC'd to 3GHz compared to your 3.2. Tbh, the Q6600 would still run fine with most new games if you have a good setup - gfx, ram etc. But the CPU we both have are beasts and you don't even need to overclock it, seriously. Overclocking would be a waste of power and if you go up to 4.4GHz (the threshold I believe) your temperatures will go up considerably.

I've had deliveries from DPD three times in my life (over the last month. The first two times they came at specified time while I was at work with my cousin waiting for me) and the last time they said they would come on the Saturday of the easter weekend but they didn't turn up; instead it came on Tuesday. I didn't appreciate the fact they didn't contact me to reschedule but they came on Tuesday promptly. They have a bit of a stigma as the worst delivery service in UK but I think they're alright.

I'm hoping this GPU comes supplied with DVI Adapter(s) as my current monitor only supports the standard DVI cable... :'( I'm not sure if such adapters are available...

The card has HDMI and DVI ports. You want to use DVI to DVI, right?

Or do you mean your monitor only supports VGA?

It says it's Dual DVI, I thought this was so you could use 2 displays but looking on Google images Dual DVI is similar but different from the pics I've seen...

The card has 1 dual link DVI-I connector.

Dual Link provides higher bandwidth for the likes of 2560x1440 monitors or 1080p 120Hz.

The -I part means it carries an analogue signal as well so it can be used with a DVI to VGA adapter.

I've not read the whole thread.

What monitor(s) do you need to connect to the card?

It seems as if there is a problem with the Intel RAID on these M/B.

Been trying to install the RAID Driver prior to install and it wont load...

After 6 hours of problem shooting it seems that if you have a Windows 7 Disk with Multiple Versions x64 and x86 then it will never load...

Borrowed a friends x64 Only Disk and it installed as normal... Looks like a few people have had this problem...

Nothing but problems from day one :(

No Graphics Card when Delivered and DPD well, sh!t... Watched the driver pull up outside my house and drove off again. Didn't even leave the van. Checked tracking and it stated he couldn't deliver. Not the first time this driver has done this to me. Just wondering if the Graphics Card was in there and he took it out but surely he would have taken more or something different like the CPU...

I have no idea about RAID, have never tried it.

Wow, for real? You would have thought the graphics card would come with the whole thing. There's always the possibility it got packed up separately. Call up Overclockers tomorrow and find out what's happening. That's really s****y though. :(

Overclockers have sent another, they said it was packed and agreed it was strange for the driver to do as he did! I don't know why the driver does it, it's this one driver and he is an ass! The RAID issue was doing my nut in but after searching around found the solution, strange how a multi install windows disk won't all RAID Drivers to load :s

All sorted now, hopefully start overclocking later today or tomorrow :)
