Mental illness games

Bioshock 1 and Bioshock 2 are certainly up there with the feeling of you being surrounded by mentally ill people.

Batman Arkham is a twisted game set in a mental asylum, it has a lot of tape recordings of mentally ill patient interviews that are, quite frankly chilling to listen to at times.

Metro 2033 has a twist where the characters aren’t really mentally ill as such but they are being mentally tormented by creatures. The main protagonist of the game is mentally tormented and this makes it a little chilling at times.

Resident Evil 5 has some mentally ill twists, certainly not a nice place to be.

These are the games I’ve played recently that seem to have some sort of mental illness linked to the game play or at least have elements of mentality.

Call Of Cthulhu Dark Corners Of The Earth, based on the writings of HP Lovecraft, the game contains a dynamic sanity system, you obviously have to keep your character alive throughout the game but your objective is also to maintain his sanity,as your sanity decreases you experience hallucinations, vertigo, panic attacks, paranoia etc. A very creepy game and well worth a play imo.

Well might as well chip in:

Call of Cthulhu: DCOTE
Clive Barkers Undying
Clive Barkers Jericho
Max Payne 1 and 2 have some levels and good games too
Blair Witch games
Fear games

Max Payne and Alice are deff. good shouts - probably just about good enough still graphically too.

Theres another one circa. 2001 that was set entirely in an asylum which was pretty weird but I've forgotten the name. (not Sanitarium).

EDIT: It might have been shadow man but its been so long I'm not sure.

Your freaking head falls off!! The game maker will make you think your going mentally ill with the tricks they play on you.
