Do you really enjoy this job? If so, then great but if not and if you were feel malicious could make life difficult for them. I went through something very similar, I did excellent work (mostly

) and saved them loads of money over 5 years but one slip up and they turned on me in a flash. I didn't take any of their **** and we both came off worse - an informal chat would've sorted it in 5 minutes but they decided to go down the whole disciplinary process route... as someone said earlier, these people have to justify their jobs. I despise bureaucracy, especially at this level.

By the way, I believe references generally mean very little these days - any future employers will just call HR dept of your old company to confirm your employment dates and job title. No one should be calling your old boss for a personal reference.

Yeah this completely, find somewhere better where they give a **** when you've done something right, not dwell on an insignificant remark. How many bollockings did you get in the end? 3? For 1 accidental email that wasn't even that bad, yeah fine somewhere better if you can.

Yeah sorry I should have clarified. I didn't mean he'd be sacked for it, just meant that I highly doubt the management will simply let it go and probably give him all the crappy jobs from junior staff members etc as punishment.

Don't worry about it, the system is obviously poor and they probably know that. The issue was the email "reply to all" - which was a human error accident. You didn't mean too. I would stick to my guns be assertive and apologise for the mistake.

I doubt this will be the biggest FAIL you will ever make at work.
