I think it looks rather dated for a game running UE5 and the performance is far too low for how it looks as well There are a host of UE5 games now that get up to double the base fps and look like a modern UE5 game as a reference point.
It looks better than that rubbish 'remake' of Oblivion. The graphics are more than good enough, we are lucky we got a remake at all, considering what happened with Kojima. In game it looks more than good enough, and if I had a more powerful GPU and could enable RT and higher settings, it would look even better. I couldn't care less about having triple figure FPS in a single player game that isn't fast paced, nor online or multiplayer. A stable 60-100FPS with the graphics/resolution maxed, is good enough for me.
Still to expensive. I will be waiting. If I did not have a backlog maybe I could be convinced
How? £45.99 is less than we paid for PS3 games, c'mon dude, that's clutching at straws a bit! It's a full-on remake, not a cash grab remaster of something barely old?
I wish I had a backlog, it's nice that we are getting a fair amount of games this year though
@deviation Thanks for sharing your impressions and the screenshots — much appreciated!
I was just wondering, beyond how the game runs and looks, did you actually enjoy your playthrough? Was the 8.5-hour experience worth the £46 for you overall?
I'm more curious about how the game plays and whether it holds up in terms of story, pacing, and overall enjoyment, especially for someone who might be new to it.
I played the heck out of Phantom Pain but from what I've seen this is not the same experience.
Thanks mate, you're very welcome
Yeah, I took stupid amounts of screenshots, constantly - something I rarely do, so I was loving it, and wanting to preserve those first impressions

Put it this way, I played it more than I slept, around 18 hours in total with testing, and the 2nd session I had, was 10+ hours in one stint

If that doesn't say I was smitten, then I don't know what does

I went to bed at 4:30am because I didn't want to stop until it was finished - having completed the original version many times, I just knew what was coming, and wanted to see it
It's a solid 8.5/10 for me as a remake goes, the only thing that would have made it better, was if they'd used their own engine, but the fact it ran so well, and didn't crash or stutter, despite UE5, made it more special in a way, because UE5 is usually ****.
Gameplay wise, I ended up really enjoying the new control/camera layout, which you can customise - however the original layout and camera view etc, is still an option, so you can use whichever you like.
It definitely
felt like MGS3. The muscle memory was there for sure with either layout.
TLDR I hate Phantom Pain, this feels like the OG MGS', and that's what Phantom Pain never did. I'd be all for more OG MGS remakes.
