Strange that not many have come in here to defend the awesome MGS4. People will have been put off the game by some comments in here, and all I can say to anyone wondering if its any good, is buy it and try it for yourself. To me its one of the best games this gen, and a fine chapter from the series. Love it!

As for this being released on PS3. Yay

It is when they already had money off me for the first two years ago.

Actually, having said that, just MGS2. I bought MGS3 pre-owned, something I don't tend to do these days. In any case, I wouldn't be paying £40 for any new release these days, regardless of what it's theoretically worth.

If I had to name my top 5 games of all time then I would put MGS4 in that list. But then I could easily fill that list with MGS, MGS2, MGS3, MGS4 and then GT3.

I thought the in-game iPod was awesome first time I saw it, plus you use it just like a real one!

Shame you can't play music from your HDD on it though.

They've done a really good job with the HD remastering. Can't wait for it and I wonder what the trophies will be like.

Metal Gear Solid HD Collection will ship on two discs for Xbox 360, Konami has revealed.

The package, which features high resolution textures and recorded audio for three Metal Gear Solid titles, will be available on one Blu-ray on PlayStation 3.

Also announced were the first two Metal Gear titles released on MSX, as well as the VR missions included as part of Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance.

Metal Gear Solid HD Collection will include Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker.

All games will feature Trophy and Achievement support, while Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker will offer online co-operative play.

Earlier this week Konami announced that it would also release on PlayStation Vita, with 'transfarring' save sharing with the PlayStation 3 version.

Metal Gear Solid HD Collection will be available by the end of the year.

Another multi disc release for the 360, not such a big problem with this one though seeing as they are different games

I'm so excited for this, it's way too hard for me to choose a favourite game in the series, as I have really fond memories of all of them. Excited and I'll be the first person on OcUK to complete a no-alert playthrough of MGS2 on Extreme...

Really tempted to get these now I have a PS3. Only played MGS 2 back on the Xbox so I've missed out on quite a bit!

Konami revealed the game would have a special feature allowing players to view select scenes in either traditional full frame (4:3) or in the now-norm widescreen mode (16:9). Additionally, the PS3 version will come with a download voucher for the original Metal Gear Solid on PSN. An Xbox 360 incentive is currently being decided.

Gets even better albeit I doubt it's aged well. Why Konami you not give us Twin Snakes instead?

I too cannot wait, think I'm looking forward to this more than most of the other releases around the same time! MGS1-4 marathon, here we come...

Maybe because its a Nintendo game? Not sure who has the licence for twin snakes though. The "free" MGS for the PS3 has been known about for a while but it was only for Japan, not sure if this means all regions will get it. As for the 360 bonus well i guess a few bits of MGS avatar clothing would suffice?

It's still as playable as ever, I recently completed it again on my PSP, one of the best games of all time in my opinion.

Yeah made by Silicon Knights, so licensing issues would come out of that.

Given a choice between the two I'd rather have the proper game, although I still have MGS on disc anyway. Twin Snakes looks nice graphically, but the small changes they've made to characters/cutscenes are terrible.
