Metal Gear Solid. The Phantom pain.

Ok after my previous threads I'm enjoying this more now, just met Quite and Metal gear and unlocked a shed load of weapons and mother base, things seem to be hotting up. Where can I view the different things I extract on MB? I've found Quite and her awesome sound track she chills too.

It is hard to explain my feelings on the game after finishing chapter one, and roughly knowing what chapter 2 has in store. The following is not a story spoiler, but says something about the structure of the game.

If you have got as far as me, you know this, but after resolving the whole Skullface stuff and tying up some plot points to do with metal gear, the credits roll and you think back on a very good game with a disappointing story and weak ending. But then it is revealed that that was only chapter one, and there is a whole other chapter to go, with new stories and loose ends being tied up. The prospect of this is utterly amazing with some of things being teased to happen in chapter 2 looking amazing.

Unfortunately though, chapter 2 seems to be really paired down, and padded out as they weren't given the resources, for whatever reason to finish the game. In order to unlock many of the new story missions, you have to repeat side ops you have already done. It is clear, Imo, that Kojima planned a hell of a lot more for chapter 2(evidenced by how much new gear you get to play with at the end if chapter one) , but his ambition was not matched by Konami(not totally unreasonable considering the budget). For this reason, I must consider the game unfinished, and sadly I am left wondering at what might have been.

The game showed incredible ambition, unfortunately maybe a bit too much in the end. And it looks like it will now never truly meet it's potential sadly

i agree. I love the game don't get me wrong, but the whole chapter 1 and 2 stuff is a mess. Especially when there are repeats of the missions. I would rather each mission had a choice of difficultly then being forced to do some of them again to advance the story. One of them is pretty much impossible because no matter what armour you are wearing its one hit death

I've only just started, in afghan I'm not sure yet. The start had way to many cut scenes but it seems like a game that you really have to think about playing. Controls are a bit messed up, no keyboard map layout?

To be fair you don't have to do the repeat missions (the ones on subsistence/total stealth etc), you can do 3 or 4 side ops and the next main mission will unlock. But it is a chore yeah, baffling why they would do this. It put me off the game because I was already getting tired of doing the same repetitive type missions over and over.

Is seeing a man's bum through a poorly tied hospital gown a normal thing in MGS? :D

Yes along with a man hiding in a barrel with very bad squirts:D

And who can forget this :

Did an interesting few missions last night...

The set of missions leading up to finding Eli, unfortunately Quiet's supressed tranq rifle was being developed WHILST I was doing the mission :o Ended up distracting and CQC stunning a bunch of kids followed by the entertaining 'fight' with Eli. What a **** he is!

Where's the cheapest place to get a copy? Also, what's the aiming like with a controller? I noticed that there are iron sights. Is it better to use a mouse and keyboard because of this?

GamesTM mag has give this a 10/10 rating, first one for AGES (I'm a subscriber), can't think of the last one, maybe the Last of Us, not sure if that got a 10! Can't wait to play, when I start I won't be playing anything else.
