Metro Last Light - Thread

ok so I need to reconnect the game to vpn, to install all the diect x guff etc, then turn it off, go offline with steam and bobs my uncle?

Register the game with steam and pre-load. Then exit steam and fire up the VPN and connect to the USA. Then open steam and set it to offline mode. Disconnect the VPN and leave steam in offline mode to play.

That's what I did and all is ok.

Played this for a couple of hours and to me it has the best graphics iv seen so far..better than crysis 3 like pointed out above... the lighting and effects are stunning and the atmosphere of this game is amazing....The first time you go onto the surface and look around it looks gorgeous.

It is stunning from the little I have seen so far it also runs really well unlike Crysis 3. The 4A Engine is far better than the crappy cry Engine.

FOV is utterly bad :(

Search for Metro 2033 FOV in google, I bet it is the same process.

Something like find the user.cfg file for Metro LL, open in notepad, search for sick_fov and change it to whatever you like.

I cant remember the exact location of the user.cfg file for Metro 2033, its something like Steam>userdata>xxxxnumberxxxxxx>xxxxnumberxxxxxx>remote>user.cfg

I reckon its the same process for LL.

There is currently NO WAY to change the FoV, the settings which were used for 2033 DO NOT WORK in last light.

Anywho, just completed this on Ranger Hardcore, here are a few comments.

Positives.

The game is brilliant, very atmospheric and unlike 2033 it actually has a real story. The story itself is unlikely to win awards but it's intriguing, has some mystery and a few twists, over all pretty good.

I love the weapon customization, very nice addition. The weapons variety was also pretty good, I favoured an Silenced AK and Shotgun for most of the game, the big Rifle is nice but opportunities to use it are slim and on Ranger Hardcore the ammo is far too precious to waste. I found it to be a plot weapon, use it when one if given to you.

Combat is solid, stealth is rewarding (if a little easy, see below) and when **** hits the fan the weapons have enough of a satisfying kick to them to make things fun.

The world design is beautiful and pretty diverse for a post apocalyptic shooter, lots of great visuals especially if you take the time to look around.

The final few chapters after rescuing the child Dark One are incredible, story, visuals, atmosphere, it really is the high point for me.

Now on to some negatives.

BOSS BATTLES.

There are actually boss battles, in arenas, one of them involves a burly monster to charges at you at which point you move and it hits a well, stunning itself. I **** you not. Another involves shooting a GLOWING WEAK SPOT on a giant mutant bear. WHAT THE ACTUAL **** 4A!? This is horrible and has no place in the game.

Stealth is far too easy with the auto-kill moves, also silenced weapons are too good now helmets don't seem to do anything it your target isn't in combat. I ghosted 99% of the game with complete ease.

There are a few too many "Hold out till X happens" moments but that might just be me.

One part with Artyom and Anna which I thought was actually a dream sequence turned out to be real, not a negative as such but kinda made me feel dumb.

The brothel in Venice is so ****ing creepy there are no adequate words to describe it.

The ending is a bit lame.

The fixed FoV is annoying but not a deal breaker, at least it wasn't for me.

Over all, at least 9/10 for me,
