Metro Place - 4A Games (Rumor)

And finally, another development, about which almost nothing was heard - a new part of the Metro with screenwriter Glukhovsky on board and is radically different from its predecessors. Again, no details, one big "wow" from the few who were lucky enough to see the game with my own eyes.

But first, a few words about the games 4A Games. At the moment the team is working on three projects.

The first of them - Metro Redux for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC is almost ready and will be released in the summer of 2014 amending and updating Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light for next-generation consoles took almost 9 months and now both played excellent shooter with a gamepad.

The second project - a new shooter in the universe Metro, radically different from the previous parts of the series. Working on the script author of the novels "Metro" Dmitry Gluhovskij and action games ... Here we have to stop. NDA forbids us to give any details, but look at those episodes and technical pieces that we have seen in the office 4A Games, really impressive.

The third project is even more secret. This is a fantastic shooter about space with a very unusual design, structure and idea. Alien landscapes are fascinating - we do this have never seen. Alas, more information about the new game we can not provide.

And now let's get to the actual inquiries about Malta. What attracted 4A Games distant rocky island refuge of the Knights and the "unsinkable aircraft carrier" of the Second World War?

More Evidence that Metro: Last Light Developers Are Working On A New IP Set in Space. So a new IP and another Metro game, can't wait. I hope both aren't linear story driven games though :(

I'm perfectly happy with Metro staying linear.

I just want more of it.

I agree. I think a big problem with games becoming open-world is that they lose the ability to tell a story (with actual pacing) as a consequence.

EDIT to add that I believe open-world certainly has its place, but so too does a linear narrative driven game!

Yeh exactly, I'm not sure why people want every single game to be open world.
I like a good linear story, that doesn't take forever to get into and complete.
Absolutely loved the first two metro games.

Agreed, the most recent prime example of that being MGS V. Utter failure as far as the narrative is concerned, and as a result turns incredibly boring once the gameplay starts to get repetitive.

I really enjoyed Metro Redux on the PS4 and the level design was open enough to not feel particularly linear anyway.

I never liked it either but the game still managed to score a unbelievable 91/100 on steam !!!

i do hope they go open world

a true survival open world metro would be amazing having to scavange for filters reserve ammo, find safe havens can imagine that being so immersive :)

would be my ideal post apocalyptic game that supercedes fallout and would be a true stalker replacement :) !

really enjoyed the first, about to start the second as I picked it up in the steam sale. should be finished in time for this release :D

fantastic games! :)

though i do prefer the 1st one too be honest as it is more horror orientated and the sequal took a more action based approach

a good game none the less!

Looks like a Sci-Fi Game is in the works.

Holographic it may be, but our energetic approach is at the forefront of our hands on tease this week.
"Soon™" is often used but is more than apt today

A bit more of the gritty mechanics this time, we know you are "gunning" for our heads with these teases. So here you go:

So there have been a lot of discussions and thoughts on what we are doing. So I was told to give you guys a hand:

Yay, a floaty hand simulator.... I was hoping for more. An open world metro game would have been great.

They haven't abandoned the Metro series. They're working on an untitled Metro project, which is reputed to be more of a sandbox than it's predecessors. Arktika.1 is not the game they were referring to when they made that statement.

Greetings to all our fans,

Last week we revealed the first of two major projects in development at 4A Games – ARKTIKA.1 is a AAA Virtual Reality shooter for Oculus Touch set in a new post-apocalyptic world. It’s a great project for the studio, as VR is a good match for our overall goal of making IMMERSIVE games!

It’s clear that some of you really like the look of ARKTIKA.1, and we’ll talk about that a bit more below – but we also see some of you were… maybe a bit disappointed. Perhaps you prefer traditional PC / console games, and maybe you were hoping we’d announce… something else!

So let me say again – ARKTIKA.1 is one of TWO projects in development right now. It’s not holding the other project up – with our new Malta studio we are a much bigger team, and it is better for us to have multiple projects, for our own independence and creativity. We’re not ready to talk about the other project just yet, but we think you’ll like it. So please be patient!

Back to ARKTIKA.1 – in short, we’re really happy about it; we love being a part of the first wave of large VR projects. This happiness might have deep roots within the experience of our team (the core of which is comprised of people from Ukraine) – we were rather late to enter the games industry and were always chasing after the leaders of that pack.

Now the others will have to chase us.

Why VR?

VR is very immersive. We pride ourselves on our ability to make immersive experiences so it makes sense.

We’ve always been creating immersive games, and I think we can be rightfully proud of our success in this pursuit. Oculus has allowed us to take the immersion to a whole new level, and it would have been a shame to miss such an opportunity.

VR will be the king in immersion until they figure out way to send information right into the brain via WiFi, and with every passing year VR will continue building that momentum.

The decision to start a VR project came rather spontaneously – we just tried it out, and that was it, the decision was made! We’re not much different in that regard from most of the people trying VR for the first time. The experience is, without doubt, eye-opening and we see the potential.

ARKTIKA.1 is a full-blown ААА title, and we are fully employing all of our accumulated experience to take advantage of all the new opportunities provided only by VR. ARKTIKA is not a port, the project was built for VR and the Touch platform from the ground up.

ARKTIKA.1 mixes the post-apocalyptic setting traditional for our team, with Sci-Fi, which is something new for us, and we hope that you like it. We ourselves like the way it’s coming out a lot.

Thank you for your support!
