MG ZR 105

Decent alternative.

Focus 1.6 Zetec 3DR. Try a quote with Direct Line. Paid 1600 in my first year at 17. I'm now paying less than half. Produces similar power to the 105.

Girlfriends ma doesn't drive, my ma doesn't drive and my dad has speeding convictions so that's probably not going to help much.

I added my brothers girlfriend, she's only had a licence one year but it got my quote down to £1,652.70 from Churchhill!

Full comp, can't argue with that too much really...

Wardie

MAKE sure you go through

http://www.quidco.com/churchill-car-insurance/

for £100 cash back on that policy if you take it up :D

1552.70 with cashback

Or

http://www.quidco.com/prudential-car-insurance/

£75 with Pru. Juggle it about. See what's the best deal.

Cheers mate, I doubt i'll get a better quote than that to be honest!

Just tired Pru.... "Your car insurance quote £2,360.40"

What makes me laugh is that the application form is identical to Churchhill, so they are likely just a reseller, or one of them is...

Churchhill and a couple of others couldn't quote me on the MG ZR.

Churchill sounds like the one if you go for the Focus then :)

Good luck with it. Please don't forget the cashback though!

Yea they are the same underwriter. Once you get that NCB the price of the insurance plummets. I paid £750 FC on my Focus last Dec and I'm slightly younger than you, I do have a headstart with the NCB though so fair fair.

I have a 2002 MG ZR+ 1.4 and well its a very nice car, sure its a bumpy ride due to it being fairly low but i absolutely love it :D for a start it actually looks very nice and there is loads of subtle mods which can be found for them to improve the look. If your seriously interested in getting one join up on www.themgzr.co.uk can find most useful information about the car and headgaskets are a problem but if you find a decent example which there is plenty and keep revs below 3k before its warmed up there is very little chance of it going. The car is quite nippy aswell, i got the car when i was 17 and has been great fully comp insurance with quinn was 1600 f/c, this year im now 18, it was 751 f/c with morethan. So next year it should be dirt cheap and when im 21 will go for something abit faster.

hope this helps ;)

Sorry to dig up such an old thread, but I'm considering one as a first car.

Does this look reasonable for price and age?

I'm not jumping into anything, and I'm still considering other cars (mainly the 1.6 Zetec Focus), but the MG is something that I like the look of but I'm feeling put off by reliability issues.

Looks cack.

Worst colour, worst wheels, owned by a family who have 4 kids (scum).

Has after market or completely worn out pedals and aftermarket gear knob.

Run a mile.
