Michael Owen

What kind of hat?

I can't see Owen sticking around much longer, he's struggling with injuries and isn't getting in to the national side. He's being a part time player for United this season, it's a shame as I think he's a good goal scorer and he's got a good record for the national side.

He can't be relied upon though. His entire career has been interupted by injury and just like I said about Hargreaves in the other thread, things will only get worse.

And if Owen agrees to be a bit part player on rubbish money (by his standards), with no prospect of playing for England then I'll eat my hat.

So rather than play a part of a squad at 31 he'll just retire altogether?

I'll eat your hat for you if that happens

Besides which as Fergie said in his press conference Owen hasn't missed one training session all season, not bad for a crock. This injury is just blown up because it's got the old out for the rest of the season tag - that despite the fact that there's only 2 more months of the season to actually go had it been at any other time in the season no one would have even battered an eyelid

He also likes £££ so he'll stick around as long as he's paid mucho money.

Firstly I think Fergie was exaggerating; iinm Owen's had a couple of little injuries earlier in the season. Also the fact that he's barely playing might be part of the reason why he's not getting injured as much ;)

And yes I do think he'll retire. Owen's too proud to be a bit part player and has other things in his life he'd rather concentrate on. If somebody offers him stupid money then that pride may go away though. Maybe if Newcastle get promoted he'll go back there :p

I's wager that just as many injuries occur in training as they do in games but I can see this is a no win one so we'll just have to wait and see what happens at the end of next season and which of us will be bumping this thread :p

Only thing I will say is that Owen getting this injury is a big blow for us as even if he doesn't play just having him in the squad is extremely handy (if Fergies to be believe and Rooney is out tomorrow he'd of probably played tomorrow had it not been for the injury so we could already be feeling his absence)

Dear Michael Owen,

It's a shame to see your hamstrings are being *******s again, they were always hard for me to work with, hope you are keeping well, you look a little sad now I'm no longer with you. A lot of water has passed under the bridge since we were last together, it must be 3 or 4 years now? Take care and I hope that if you pass me on to your children I can remain with them a little longer than I did with you.

Yours lovingly,

Your pace.

He's been a lost cause ever since leaving Liverpool, it's painful to think about how much money he's sponged while being sat on the treatment table at various clubs.

Read what Feguson has said about Owen "He is a player I should have used more this season"
Really Fergie? Well, theres a thing......

Yeah I don't understand it at all. I really did think he would have played more this season, he's been fit for nearly all of it so far yet we barely played him. He gets injured, then it's 'I should have played him more...'.

I don't suppose the fact none of those players has managed six seasons of scoring more than 15 Premiership goals has anything to do with the fact that, of that group, only Drogba has played six seasons in the Premiership, as a starter?

I've scored more goals in my five-a-side league than Cristiano Ronaldo. Doesn't make me a better player than him. Better still, I didn't score them all ten years ago.

strange thing is here he is just about the only English footballer people know apart from Beckham. He must still have a huge commercial value even with all the injury's.

hes been injury prone since liverpool hasnt he, and he only lasted 3 minutes in euro 2004 wasnt it?

he has the ability to be up among the best of strikers, but not with his repeating injuries.

Have no reason to believe why MO wont play for Utd for years to come on a rolling 1 year contract (especially with the club in so much debt, we wont be splashing out on top notch strikers).

This is the only major injury he has had this season, if 2010/11 goes similarly with him being availabe for majority of games (and being pretty effective when he does come on) no reason not to keep him.
