So....

Released on parole from a 27yr sentence for robberies

Three weeks later starts a sting of further robberies and ends up with 13 life sentences

Serving sentence in an open prison. Allowed out. Doesn't come back

....you don't say?

Obviously not good that a bad man is now on the loose but this is hilarious

Yes, it's not looking great, is it?

Seems to be another example of failed rehabilitation and they've had a lot of time to work on him:/

Nothing to do with failed rehabilitation. More to do with the ineptitude of the prison service and parole board who said "let's keep him in an open prison and let him out for jaunts, it's not like he hasn't left or failed to return before".

I guess it shows how fuzzy the assessments that people are 'rehabilitated' or 'low risk' can be. The one way in which prison does work very effectively is simply keeping bad people locked away from the rest of us. While I think the US three strikes and you're out system is too harsh I feel the examples of people with massive numbers of repeat offences in the UK does need to be addressed by some form of points system whereby extra time is accumulated for each additional offence.

it boggles the mind when someone who is serving 13 life sentences for a series of brutal attacks and has the nickname skull cracker is in an open prison for a start. sub human scum like that shouldn't even be alive.....

Can you imagine being sent to prison and having to share a cell with someone name "scull-cracker". Scary thought.

THIS is why we need drones, ideally with a camera so we can see his removal on YouTube.

Nope, this is why we need the exploding neck collars from Running Man.

You don't come back in 12 hours to have them reset and your head goes bang. Try to remove it and your head goes bang..

But I also think the police should be given Apache attack helicopters...not many car chases would continue if an Apache pulled up beside them :p

he can always get the role of Hodor's stunt double in Game of Thrones if he decides to go on the straight and narrow.

Truly unbelievable. Quite near me too.

Firstly, I hate the thought of these type of nut-cases being allowed out full-stop. The public have no knowledge and yet they could be walking past you in the street. To then have no system/fallback when they don't return is mind-blowing.

now, i'm not the greatest at maths but...

"At the Old Bailey, in 2002, he received 13 life sentences for robbery and 13 concurrent five-year sentences for possessing an imitation firearm. The judge said he must serve a minimum of eight years."

how does that work? all those sentences yet he can be out as soon as he's done 8 years?
