micro-atx build questions

Hi,
So I've upgraded my main rig with a 5800X-3D and now have a spare Ryzen 9 3900X and I want to build a micro-atx rig as a present for my son around it, so that he can take it with him to Uni next term.
I've got spare DDR4 memory to hand and will be upgrading my gigabyte windforce 2080 super so that will also be available for the micro-atx build too.
The 2080 super's dimensions are: L=286 W=114 H=50 mm
I do also have an Asus ROG Stryx 1080TI dimensions are: L=298 W=134 H=52.5 mm that could be used.
Drives are no problem as I can take nvme and an SSD from an existing build for it.

What motherboard and case would you kind folk recommend?
Also what CPU cooling should I use?
I do have a brand new white Arctic Freezer34 eSports Duo to hand which is 124 x 157 x 103 mm, shall I just use that or get something else?

Trying to keep the cost down but £300-£400 would be fine for me.

TIA

white build and use your arctic freezer 34 (i assume you have the AM4 fittings available):
My basket at OcUK:

Total: £216.64 (includes delivery: £11.70)

definitely recommend this board as it has decent enough VRM+heatsink to handle a 3900x, and also wifi (esp uni and not being able to guarantee a wired connection)
stick the 2080 super with the 3900x and it'll be a nice mid-high end build
definitely wouldn't go with the 1080ti, as good as it has been
need a PSU to go with the build?

Thanks for that, I'll take a look. Have built a Lian Li based PC many years ago so know the brand.

I've personally built in this case before (well the original 205M without the mesh front)
Easy to build and nice build quality
Yes you could get the cheaper kolink citadel mesh RGB (I've also built in this case before) but the build quality is nowhere near the 205M and the RGB fans in the citadel are also cheap and didn't last long before getting rattly (14-15 months before I had to replace them for a friend)

160mm cooler clearance and the arctic freezer is 157mm oof, do I risk it?
it's fine, easily enough space
(i've built in the silverstone PS15 pro (154mm clearance) with an ID cooling 224XT (154mm)
