I just re-installed my computer using the acer recovery program that came with my computer. I installed my sound card drivers and installed skype. I can't seem to get my microphone to be working. If I unplug it and plug it back in it makes no difference in the recordings tab of the sound control panel. The mic is on and plugged in. Can anyone help me? :P I'm running windows 7. The headset worked before I re-installed it as well. I installed realtek hd drivers to see if that would fix it but it didn't.

When you plug it in to the onboard audio, you do not get the little message asking if you plugged a mic in? Unless you disabled that of course.

You could try uninstalling the audio drivers, then reinstall. I don't know if you did, but sometimes installing over drivers doesn't always solve the issue, if there is one.

It may turn out the same, but it's best to try uninstall the old ones first really.

You have a DG? You didn't mention that. :p

Realtek drivers have nothing to do with the Xonar. You will only get a little pop up message if connecting the mic to the onboard audio.

Do you have the mic connected to the rear of the DG, or front case audio socket?

Sorry, I didn't know it was important. I'm a sound noob :P

The headset is connected to the rear of the DG, I also tried to plug it into the onboard card but I turned that off in the BIOS so I'm guessing thats why that didn't work :P

Hmm, I wonder if the front audio socket is selected.

With the Xonar DG, might apply to all Xonar's, you have to select where the mic will be connected.

If you go to the Windows sound options, then to the recording tab. Select Xonar DG microphone, then properties. In the window that pops up, select the custom tab, you should see 3 tick boxes. Is front mic ticked or unticked?
