Microsoft buying Activision (World of Warcraft, Call of Duty etc)

Does anyone else think this is just going to be a huge s-show? I mean, Phil Spencer already can't manage all the teams he's got and clearly the leadership in place in those teams (343, Turn 10, Arkane etc.) are failing hard - I can't help but think adding Blizzard/Activision/King to the pile is just going to further accelerate the decline of XBox as a brand - and as Spencer himself said, if Game Pass can't make a profit then MS won't hesitate to shut it down.

Much like with Embracer haemorrhaging cash and offloading staff and studios due to expanding too quickly, I really think there's some bad times ahead for the XBox group - especially as Sony and Nintendo are dominating them in the console space.

Clearly MS has an all-digital, all-streaming future planned for XBox (or rather, Game Pass) - the question is, are gamers interested in that future? With XBox One it was 'no' and with Google Stadia it was 'no' - has the needle really moved since then?

Could well be. Not sure why anyone would have confidence in huge corporations providing a quality offering to consumers. Spencer has already said XBOX can't win on games, so what's left?

Streaming I guess. With the console war totally lost, what they have got is GP and later streaming, so I think they're going to run these at a loss for a long while yet or get out of gaming, are they going to admit to complete failure in the World's largest and the only growing entertainment industry - I can't see it.

I hope they aren't going to think that they're going to be "the Netflix of games" because TV streaming has already shown itself to be a failed business model, and gauge their success with "engagement metrics" style data.

Spencer is wrong, it's the games that drive profit in the end not the method of delivery. The games industry though, has shown itself to be deaf and blind to what their customers actually want and seem absolutely hell-bent on doing the exact opposite with their game design. MS would do well to listen to what gamers actually want - but of course just like every other major dev and publisher - daddy knows best. And to an extent they are right because there will always be millions of suckers ready to open packs for money on whatever FIFA is calling itseld now.

But that's nowhere near the whole market, just look at the deaths of dozens of LS games, because the audience for this type of game is very limited.
