Microsoft needs to admit the Xbox One Kinect is a peripheral, not a pack-in (warning linkenrun)

Even though that doesnt actually turn your Xbox off.

But it does bring up a prompt asking you to confirm.

I don't see how polygon are doing the opposite of many others here as so far the kinect 2.0 doesn't seem to be very popular with gamers. This may change when there is more software available and it's more refined but in it's current state it's an expensive and underused peripheral that MS weren't confident in being utilised unless it was forced on consumers.

He was saying you still need to pick up the controller if you want to actually play something, otherwise what's the piont in just turning it on. Perhaps you'd look like a tit if you just spoke to the xbox to turn it on all the time and didn't actually use it.

Does anyone know if MS have dismissed the rumours yet that a Kinectless SKU is on the way, like they dismissed the no-disc-drive rumour?

Pretty much this, if kinect/xbox one had the option where you say xbox on and it also turns on the controller then great but right now its half assed ie say xbox on then having to turn the controller on. Doesnt make any sense imho.

At first i wasnt keen on kinect but since having the xbox one, ive got used to it ie using voice commands, dont bother with gestures and all that jazz.

They should have bundled couple of low production cost full Kinect games like an upgraded Child of Eden with the system so buyers at least feel like there's a (gaming) reason for having it. Personally couldn't give a rat's about it but do understand that they bundled it so developers know that all Xbox One owners have it and therefore should incorporate it into their games (but won't effectively in most cases)

It wouldn't make any sense for it to turn the controller on either; it means the controller would have to forever be listening for a signal to turn on, which means more battery drain. If you're going to use the controller anyway, does it matter whether it's on or not when you pick it up?

I like my kinect as a voice command, don't use vision enough but I like it for when I do have a go.

Playing through Skyrim again since last weekend and turned on Kinect commands. Boom! Much better than what Mass Effect 3 had tried with Kinect commands.

Runs into dungeon, command equip summon spell, then command equip shield and axe. See distant foe, command equip bow. Mid fighting, dragon command Fus Ro Dah! Over weight, command ally trade, get it done. Sees another item, command Ally take e.t.c.

Feels so much more fun than my previous, D-pad, search for what I want, and then repeat. Also, walking that extra 10 feet to ally just to trade, pfff.... "Ally Trade".

As for Kinect as a vision peripheral, I enjoyed adventures and stuff but much like the Wii, I've yet found something I truly think it's brilliant - Voice Command is awesome!

If they MS does do a console without connect they're going to have to price it lower than a PS4, if it's the same price people will just go for the better machine (PS4) £279 would be a fair price.

£150 cheaper, MS shareholders would go beserk

Kinect ain't worth £50 IMO never mind 3 times that.

Also the public don't know what actually is the better machine, they just buy whatever everyone else has, or whatever is popular in their social group, or whatever they had before.
