No mention of it

Although it does say capacitive pens, which are available for any screen, but it is not the pen or features showen in the keynotes and can be had for like £3 from ebay.
This is a total dumb pen and again nothing like what's in the keynote or on the pro. Which has a separate pen digitizer.

I am wondering why the majority of folks here seem more excited by this than the fully blown "proper Windows" version that will follow the RT?

I would be interested in your thoughts...

My biggest barrier concerning the RT is the lack of apps at this stage. I am sure this will change.

Dont get me wrong, I would love one of these but cant justify it at this stage.

Full blowen comes with its problem, rubbish battery life, size, weight, cost etc.
And if you are just wanting a media device, offers no improvements over rt and those Downsides.
Plus this is the RT thread.

I will be interested to see how the Atom SOC versions perform, as it should provide the best balance, of legacy and small form factor.

Until we have seen user reviews and benchmarks, you cannot go and preach about **** battery life, and weight.

You say size? what are you on about? the pro version is the same size as the RT version.

Dont forget, the pro version comes with brand new next gen i5 and i7 cpu's that are on a even smaller die shrink then whats seen on a current i5 and i7 laptop so unless you can show me some benchmarks of this cpu, all of you queries are none issue.

Battery life will be around 4-6 hours, we know this from the other tablets announced.
Great it's got an i5, people who use it for media consumption have no need for that power.

Size it's an extra 4.2mm thick and an extra 0.5lbs

These are all fine for for people like me who want them for basic gaming or people who want to run x86 apps.
However to say I wonder why people np buy rt over pro, it isn't surprising at all. Most people computing is web sites, media and maybe a bit of media. Rt does that better than the pro at a cheaper price point.

I know you didn't, I was pointing it out. Non of the spec sheets on the uk sites say pen is supported. But then capacitive pens don't need to be supported.

I'm sure they've changed the spec sheets since last week, or they are different on different sites as I recall seeing the same information about the pen - which is now gone!

Anyone had any movement on their pre order yet?

No. What date is it showing for pre-order in yours, mine moved to 02/11 and despite the mess up and email saying it was a mistake, hasn't moved back to 26/10?

I noticed that all 32GBs are sold out since yesterday, only 64GBs left now.

More unification between devices.

Use your phone, tablet, or Windows 8 and Windows RT tablets and PCs to control your living room Xbox experience. Navigate the Xbox dashboard, pause and rewind your favorite movie, swipe, pinch, and tap to surf the Web on your TV, and use your device's keyboard for easy text input and search on your console.

Basically allows you to control Xbox from wp8/tablet

Competition are selling there's next week. If ms want a decent slice. They'll need to bring it forward.

And yes to the second part.

Xbox music looks great £1 cheaper than Spotify as well.

And for the google lovers, google now have their alternative to the bing app, in the store.

Like all these apps, you need RTM to access them.

I just love the part where Engadget talk about how the USB works, it seems to REALLY work as a standard PC USB, not removed of any fucntions at all!
