Microsoft Surface RT Priced

Yes, it would work fine, only potential issue is the screen resolution. Full HD might be a bit much for a 10.6" display.

It will be fine, I run 2880 x 1800 on a 15.4" using Windows 8 with no problems. Windows 8 features HiDPI mode, which allows for higher resolutions.

I think Windows Pro tablet + an external monitor would do nicely, 4gb ram would be holding me back a little and cause some issues running a VM but apart from that these pro tablets look good.

I predict that in the future we will see RT die away and there just be Pro, I am guessing we are just waiting for the x86 chips to be able to run passively cooled and have less of a power drain. The Atom in the Razr i is faster then the Tegra at almost everything CPU related, and is ahead of everything when it comes to web browser tasks.

Looking good, where are you guys buying from?

Was in bluewater today, not available anywhere, this to me is something MS need to rectify, Apple store, HMV and Currys all flogging iPads but no love for Surface (obv. not expecting Apple to be selling it, heh).

Had it been available I would have been parting with about 500 quid today.

Yeh, I can soon see all windows tablet just running x86 chips so no more problems for users.

Well... sort of. I predict it will be functionally equivalent across both ARM and Intel, which will cause a stink because there will be little technical reason not to allow desktop apps on the Intel version. For that, you'll have to upgrade to Pro. ;)

Complete conjecture on my part, but if it happens you heard it here first. :p

Could you buy iPads anywhere when they were first released?

This is fully expected for a global release of what's turned out to be a very popular device. I wouldnt dismiss the whole device based solely on not being able to pick one up on launch day.

Not dismissing it the least mate, surface looks amazing and it should be everywhere right now IMO. There aren't many of these 'experience centres' around, Samsung had a big stand in Bluewater today, why didn't MS? Precisely because they dont have stores MS should be up and down the country, in shopping centres and the like building on the buzz and letting people get hands on right now and generating that 'I want one' feeling.

@ng, not sure and you might be right on that hence why not around, seems a bit crazy not to have them in the usual joe public sorta stores. Seems to be selling very well directly which is great right now but the early adopters are only a small portion of the market, to be successful you need the non-techy people buying into this and I think you need hands on with it to see what it can do and see why it is a good alternative to the iPad or a google tablet.

That's good to know but I'll believe it when I see it! We've missed the launch so waiting a couple more days won't make much difference. It's old news now :p

Well MS have started the advertising blitz today, A giant surface advert all over the front and back of the Metro this morning.

With regards to the unavailability of the surface other than from Ms themselves. I've always assumed this is more of a spec tablet rather than the tablet expected to sell the most, rather like the first two Nexus phones that were only available direct from Google.
