It's believed that the release will bring back Start Menu

I strongly doubt that, I also hope they don't go back to that old antiquated start menu, the new iteration is faster and easier to use in every way as long as you learn how to use it.

I don't miss the start menu. MS bringing it back seems unlikely since it would undermine their product. What they need to do is make the new home screen more awesome and intuitive with non-metro apps.

i don't believe a single word of it...

Apparently Microsoft is also aware of that as the company is preparing a major update expected to be unveiled in early 2014.

and then it says...

Another positive thing is that Windows 8.2 update will be available as a free update via App Store during January 2014.

not a chance. :/

i'm not saying there won't be an 8.2 but i think it's far too soon.

I don't believe a word of it either, and who in the **** are "NextPowerUp"?

Secondly, what is that awful mockup image of a bog standard Windows 8 start menu doing there? Never heard of print-screen, but yet know about a major OS update? Nope!

Lol, be prepared to be dissapointed. A rumor with nothing to backn it up.

There maybe minor update in march, as thats when windows phone should see the blue update. So maybe a few tweaks to make them more compatiable. If it wasnt allready built into 8.1 which it probably was.

Aye. Quite like metro, but boot straight to desktop, with start8 and use 7taskbar so a middle click on task bar brings up the start screen. Best of both. Metro is not where it's at with a triple monitor setup.

It's a subsidiary of Tech PowerUp.

A bit soon after 8.1, I doubt it.

Also unlikely that MS will undermine themselves so soon by putting the Start Menu back this early, as much as I'd like this to be true (as an option).

If it were to come back it's more likely to be in Windows 9, even though I also don't see that happening I'd see it as more credible.

i'd pay ms £20 to add a close button to metro apps... im sure im missing something...

8.2 with the easy option to close an app = win for me...

infact it would be better if you could switch between tablet mode and desktop mode, I hate this half and half frankenwindows...

its like a cross between a car and a boat... both perfect for their own uses... mix the two and its only of benefit in a very few situations...

You can also use the old ALT+F4 method to close them too. Forgive my ignorance Glaucus, but why don't they need to be closed? Do they have a park feature or something that drops off their CPU resource requirements when they aren't in use?

This article seems to give more information on a "possible" 8.2 if 8.1 fails to improve on sales from 8. http://www.eteknix.com/microsoft-may-delay-windows-9-for-windows-8-2/

Not sure on the likelihood of it failing, even if it does, MS won't release 8.2 in January, it'll more likely be in June, which makes more sense to me. It's more likely they will go straight to 9.

The "rumour" at the above source is about as concrete as Fred telling Mike over a pint in their local.
Nothing at all indicating what is being said - and as this source is the ONLY source to be saying this, then why aren't they making more of a song & dance about a story they appear to have a worldwide exclusive on?
