Microsoft's new logo!

What don't you get is wavey logo no long suits the design mantra?
It's not a defense, it just is.

Irrelevant, people didn't like the design and the response was oh it's cool to hate Microsoft that's the only reason people don't like it.

The reason why it is what it is doesn't really matter.

Windows phone and metro interfaces are made up of grids of squares, as I'm sure more will be as new products roll out. How this doesn't fit in with that I'm not sure.
I think it looks alright, but tbh I couldn't care less, while I understand brand is important to a company, I'm frankly more interested in their products than what their logo looks like.

Fair enough not liking it, that's subjective.

Saying they should have gone with a wavy logo to sit alongside their design ethos of 'everything is rectangular or angular at worst, with an odd circle here or there' is just plain daft though.

What sense is there in suggesting they adopt a completely inappropriate logo as an alternative?

Don't start bringing common sense into the conversation ;)

Loving the corporate experts we have here :D

Why are you letting a LOGO bother you do much ?

No, I prefer the wavy logo to the new one, doesn't mean I don't understand why they aren't using a wavy one, it also doesn't mean I don't like it because I hate Microsoft.

it very much does matter, when people are saying it should be the wavey one. It has nothing to do with hating it. The comments are on people's opinions of what it should be.
Unless I'm mistaken that is kind of my point, the implication was that people disliked the new logo because of a hate for MS, that's what I was referring to as defensive.

I never said anyone did?

You seem to be arguing with me about things I haven't said?

I'm talking about the first post I made, it wasn't directed at anyone specific.

To clarify I don't think they should use the wavy logo because I realise it doesn't fit, I just think it looks better on its own.

I preferred wavy windows but I don't think it looks too bad :)

This would have been better though:

This is the Windows logo though.

They needed something that was simply Microsoft, not windows, but also had a logo that they can substitute for the words, like Apple do with their apple logo
