Mid Range Speakers

Yep, that'll do the job. Got a similar one connected to my TV's optical output, then to my stereo amp.

Oh, and another question that may seem a bit silly... The speakers have L & R on them but surely it doesn't matter which way round they are so long as the cables are connected to the correct L & R for the actual set up

Doesn't matter. No idea why they would label the speakers left and right. That would only matter if they were hard wired and couldn't be changed.

Glad your enjoying your setup :D You could just connect a RCA to 3.5mm cable to your TV via the headphone jack :)

Unfortunately, my TVs only have optical audio cables and no headphone jack. The Bluetooth function is no use as it has bad audio delay.

Could anyone suggest a reputable solution to take me from optical audio to RCA on the amp? I bought the following unit, but it doesn't work.

DAC Converter, Techole Aluminum... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07MB8VCWQ?

Are you sure your TV is outputting audio from the optical connection? Could be a setting in the options if it isn't.

If it is, then it looks like it must be faulty if it isn't working, unless it's something on the amp end, like wrong input, etc.

I would expect that to be a one off if it is indeed faulty, rather than because it is cheap no name branded DAC. The one I use cost the same and is also a no name branded one, which works fine.

There aren't really many of these from known brands. Arcam etc, might make them, but they are going to be much more expensive.

Yeah, that could be a possibility.

I had to use a USB mains adaptor. It did work when being powered from TVs USB port, but there was some issue. Was either cut outs or noise being introduced. Can't remember exactly. No problem though using a mains USB adaptor.

I've tried using a mains plug for USB and it still didn't work. I'll order the same unit again and see if it was just a faulty unit - Amazon have processed a refund.

Another minor query if anyone could be so kind...:)

If I have my TV plugged into my GPU via HDMI, would it be best to link the 3.5mm to RCA cable between the PC-out > amp or the TV. headphone jack > amp

No difference?

Your PC is likely to have a much higher quality DAC than the TV.
