Middlesbrough worst place to live in the uk?

1. ICI no longer exists on Teesside.

2. The incinerator shown in the pic above has not existed for many years, there is a new one on the other side of the River and there is no smell, I should know as I have worked on the control systems.

3. The pollution was cleaned up many many years ago, what most people think is pollution is actually steam.

4. Middlesbrough is no worse than many other places in the UK, most of the large cities are total dumps in this country and I can think if many worse places in Cumbria, in the South and in Scotland, I have also worked in many of these places as well.

5. From where I live on Teesside (not Middlesbrough) I can be on the Moors in 30 minutes, the dales in an hour, the lakes and Northumbria in less than two hours.

As someone who went to uni there i can safely say it is a chav/tramp/druggie ridden hell hole that should be nuked off the face of the planet, without a doubt, never EVER go there.

Yep! but its hooommee :D

Athlough im from Redcar and only really travel to boro for Uni and on the ****

Not the biggest fan of the place, occasionally drive by the place (with the windows wound right up) and it is just not a nice place to look at at all. I was taking a friend back home to York down the a19 and his first time going over Boro was hilarious. Suffice to say what he said was not at all complementary.

The three places I have had to drop into in Boro wthrough work commitments are certainly not nice, somewhere near Newport Road, Stockton and North Ormseby I think? Anyway someone from Boro could probably tell me if I was unlucky to go into 3 bad areas but they were all pretty grim.

I have to say the north has lost it for me now, its got nothing going for it really, the people arnt exactly the greatest either.

What makes you say that?

I live near Bishop Auckland and used to work in Middlesbrough and I couldn't disagree more. While I do live in a nice-ish rural village I would take the North East over any other part of England any day.

I went back down to Brighton recently where I was brought up and every time we went out I found myself wound up at how rude and incosiderate ppl were. I know the NE will have it's fair share of 'bad tomato's' so to speak but on the whole people are a lot friendly and approachable and round were I live you have all of this glourious country-side.

I personally think the NE has a hell of a lot going for it, it just at times seems to be a little bit stuck in the past. :)
