Midweek Football 21/22 /10/2008 **Spoilers**

Great result for Arsenal, if we do them at the Emirates were pretty much through, let's hope we can carry this forward into the Premiership.

ITV coverage is woeful, quality is crap, pleat is at it again and at the end Ramsey is now the future of British football, Walcott is always known as the future of English football, but Ramsey has to be British because he's Welsh, dam media

Rant over :p

lol, yeah, ITV coverage is worse than Setanta's, I have no idea why itv4 isn't even in widescreen. Are Sky screwing them on bandwidth costs/channel costs or something. Do ITV have a freeview HD channel aswell but don't offer a HD channel on sky? Its all very dodgey, wouldn't be remotely surprised if Sky are screwing ITV and Setanta on available bandwidth to make the competitions picture quality awful.

He's not good ever, he's never put in a good performance in defence, except maybe in the african nations cup and so what, Rigobert Song didn't look to bad in the African nations cup either.

He is young, but time doesn't turn a woeful defender into a good one, it can simply make a semi decent to good defender a great one.

Fail. Old Trafford last season.

The legendary Don Howe, who las forgotten more about football than most people will ever know

The new-look defence did well enough so Arsene Wenger's decision to include Alexandre Song Billong must be applauded

Just for example, like.

Eboue failed to get the ball so Song had to foul a guy who would never in a million years get to the ball, with Clichy and Silvestre easily making it back in time considering the ball had gone far out to the wing in the miraculous situation that he got to the ball. Completely and utterly wrong decision, but you hate Eboue so you probably should have a go at him, stupid Eboue without 2 ft longer legs, he really should have reached it.
.

I don't hate Eboue, he just isn't a RW, CM, he is a decent RB which he proved tonight, that is the only position he should play.

That was one HELL of a free-kick from the Kiev player! Distance, swerve, it was quite an effort.

Saw Del Piero's effort too which was fairly peachy. Schnieder was really unlucky today and looks like he could decide it in the return fixture.

And Alex Manninger playing for Juve in goal!? Got to say, fair play to the lad. I always liked him at ours years ago but he sort of fell away towards the end of his career here.

I don't think I've ever seen us defend that badly, and yet win so comprehensively. Eboue looked like he'd forgotten how to play RB after his time away, the middle two insisted on getting caught out of position repeatedly, and with Diaby romping up the other end of the pitch, Denilson didn't do a great deal defensively. If it wasn't for some brilliant Almuniaing, and some terrible finishing by Guiza, we might have been in trouble.

But oh well, 3 points, makeshift defence, and all that jazz. Top goals too.

This is champions league thread!
Oh hush up.

Chuffed with the result but the performance defensively was pretty woeful. To be fair though Silvestre has barely played for us and Song needs someone a little stronger next to him while he is so young. Going forwards at times we were amazing though and actually incisive instead of pretty passing back and forwards. Was one of Cesc's better games too, he played some lovely balls.

Pointless having 3-4 threads for CL, Championship, Div1..........

Keep it all in one thread and people moaning should STFU tbh

Then what were you doing in a thread about Champions league football?

Surely you could just make your own thread for other football?

It's the midweek footy thread, if it was called champions league footy thread... then fair enough :p

Anyway, good performance from the guys last night. Ronaldo didn't look that brilliant last night, seemed to be a few steps behind his usual self - he still had a very good game though.

It was a very dominant performance, but Celtic did well to keep us to having most of our efforts as shots from outside the box.

I've got to say I was worried going into the game that we'd drop some points but we just out classed them.

Anderson looked good again last night, I just really want the lad to score now. :(
