Midweek Football Spoilers 28/29th Oct

Went to see Southampton v Coventry, nothing special.
Saints look very nervous, scared of making mistakes and don't even go into tackles with much commitment. Very little in the way of genuine quality or players that can make a difference now that Stern John has been loaned out.

Thought West Brom were the better side last night and had it not of been for them gifting Newcastle 2 goals they would have won

I hope Arsenal win tonight, I have a nagging feeling Spurs will be amazing, but then I remember the only player who can realistically cause any damage is Modric, then again if Denilson plays they could cut straight through the midfield. Tonight Fabregas must shine!

I have a horrible feeling about tonights game too. It will go one of two ways. We will play some good football and match them all the way through only for them to snatch a late winner or they will take the biscuit and Arsenal will run riot and win 4-0.

In the second half maybe but not the first.

I have to say our (Newcastle's) performance was pretty awful. Sloppy passing, poor defending and Ameobi had no control of the ball what-so-ever.

The amount of chances we had in the first half that were thrown away because our final ball was over-hit or played behind the player it was intended for was very frustrating.

As for the defense, we allowed them to run past us time and time again which put the whole team on the back-foot. We were committing too many players to tackle the man on the ball which then left gaps in our lines.

The annoying thing for me is; in recent matches we haven't been doing these things to the same degree and yet we've been losing or scraping draws - the one game we win and we play terrible football.

I don't want to sound ungrateful for the win and I'm not expecting us to start miraculously playing free-flowing beautiful football. However, The lads have shown in recent matches that they can play tight at the back and be dangerous going forward and neither of these things were present last night.

Some of the worst counter attacking ever as well last night

There were several occassions last night where I think West Brom could have done much better with the ball. Ishmael Miller had loads of opportunities on the right hand side when they kept on doing diagonal passes to him, but several times his control let him down or he was too slow crossing the ball.

Newcastle badly needed that win, but the worry is that a better team would have ripped them apart last night.

Will be at the Fulham game as per, kind of looking forward to it, should be plenty of goals...probably at the wrong end though.

we will snatch a point at the emirates. harry and the team know its a big game. Jenas always tend to get fired up for this game too.

Arsenal for the win tonight, even with the magic of Harry behind them I reckon Spurs will get turned over. Ill eat my remembrance day poppy if we lose.

Whatever Spurs fans predict take with a pinch of salt :p

The majority were wrong with predicting what would happen this season :D

You can only beat what's in front of you though, we've proven against Man City and Everton (even Man U, can't believe we've got the same set of players now!) that better teams can't rip us apart.

A draw against Villa and a win against Fulham and nobody will be talking about relegation anymore (this season...) I reckon, although it will be difficult to pick up four pts from those games.

Ah yeah, should have seen that.

I really hope we see some of the lads shine tonight, like on Sunday. Modric was a whole new player, Huddlestone too. Bent was pretty damn quick, although his finishing still needs a lot of work. Be interesting to see of HR plays King, he's played the last 2 games whereas Juande only ever played him 1 out of 4 or something.
