***Midweek Football***(Spoilers within)

I just wish Fergie would be a little more attacking. Playing Park tonight was just a waste. I would have rather seen a more attacking player start and Park come on for the last 30 mins to get fitness. Nani deserved a chance tonight, this match would have been great for him. Then you look at Tosic who scored both goals for the reserves last night yet still doesn't get a chance for the first team. Welbeck did alright tonight but from what I've seen of Tosic he is leagues ahead of him on the wing.

Vital part of your argument up in smoke there dude.

Do you expect him to play a youngster in the reserves and then a CL game the night after :/

No, of course not. But the fact he did play last night shows that he isn't even in Fergie's plans....why the hell not? He's clearly a pretty good player and the only left footed winger we own!!

He's right footed but not too shabby with his left, scuffed one tonight though.

LOL @ Man Utd losing :p...just a shame it wasnt a double whammy with Chelski losing but sadly wasnt to be.

Kinda surprised that Man Utd lost, i thought they woul have at least scored once or twice. Oh well unlucky that they lost for the first time in 8 yrs in the qualifiers.

I'm not quite sure how we qualified so easily really. We were poor against Besiktas and scraped a 1-0 with a late goal. We were average against CSKA and scraped a win with a late goal. We were good against Wolfsberg and won 2-1. We were really poor against CSKA and only drew 3-3 with 2 late goals, then we were poor tonight in the second half and lost 1-0. Really doesn't bode well when you look at the performances :/

Conceding first in all 3 home games is just embarrassing. Can quite easily see us losing in Germany.

Aye we're not in the best shape this season :p

Ronaldo was.. Well, everyone knows what he did.

Tevez was a massive workhorse upfront.

Havn't filled those gaps yet if you ask me. Also Ferdinand is a tad off this season :s

Criticism against Benitez and so we need to "Educate" ourselves? Get off your high horse and stop being ridiculous

Myself and many other fans know exactly what Benitez has and hasn't done during his time here, its not a matter of simply reading a fact sheet and thinking you know whats what. The question is can you judge football and do you have common sense, this is what Liverpool fans are renown for- knowing football, and this is why we give managers the time they deserve to create something, while supporters of other teams at this point would already have their bags packed and their flights booked.

The yanks ARE a disgrace and until we get new owners with a wallet that actually exists then we wont ever win the league. At the start of the season we where already falling behind the rest of the big boys because of the lack of funds to bring quality in. However to say the problems on the pitch (and every other problem we have) is down solely to the owners is absolutely ridiculous, and quite frankly, pathetic.

Benitez' managerial decisions regarding his handling of players on both professional and personal levels, especially youngsters, his stubbornness with regards to tactics and using certain average players, and what he has done with the money he has had over the years (which is quite a sum btw) is all considerably questionable. But yeah you know, if you've got blind faith go for it, but dont tell other fans to go educate themselves because you've decided to take the "blind faith root." During these times we should ALL be seriously analyzing and questioning every aspect of the club because we should NOT be out of the CL and in such dire straits at this time of the year.

To be fair to you, that is a great response and has seriously made me question my own thoughts. I can see that suggesting "educate yourselves" is somewhat antagonistic but I would like to draw your attention to the fact I state that Benitez is the best we can hope for at this "current" time.

I agree that he should not be exempt from ctriticism and he has indeed made mistakes but my big fear with the current media stance allied with the momentum amongst many of our fans is that he will go before the current owners do! The consequence in my mind is that we will end up with a yes man in charge and I truly don't believe anyone better than Benitez would come to us at this "current" time. We have been closer than ever for a long time under this man, he knows success and I believe we can know it again under him.

The major problem tonight was too many young players all at once, for example I think we'd of done much better with Owen up front with Macheda, likewise Gibson in midfield with Scholes no experience to kick the young players up the arse when we went a goal down

Fingers crossed this will lead to a stronger team against Spurs next week in the Carling Cup so every cloud

Oh and Tosic isn't registered for the Champions League squad so couldn't play even had Fergie wanted to, not that he should be considered seeing as he's crap :p

Obertan is starting to look slightly promising though

I think Macheda and Welbeck looked better over the 90 mins tonight than Owen has in any of his starts this season. Owen has had some great sub appearances but from the start he has looked lacking. Gibson and Anderson did fine tonight, Anderson has enough experience for this sort of match. If anything Carrick came on and looked worse than both of them.

If you thought Gibson and Anderson had good games then I'm leaving this thread now  :p

Gibson was a little loose at times with his control but what did Anderson do wrong? His passing was good and he was comfortable in possession

Both Gibson and Anderson's passing was criminally poor

The one thing I really cant get my head around with Gibson is that despite having a cracking strike on him he cant seem to pass it 5 yards without giving it away

Before they scored the whole team was looking good but games dont last 20 minutes and when it counted Gibson and Anderson weren't up to it tonight, Carrick should have came on a lot earlier than he did!

Obertan looked good last night and Krasic keeps impressing, he looks like a good player with great technique.

Anybody see the penalty that never was at the San Siro? (I think it was the Milan game, the shirt tug) that was one of the most awful decisions ever from our very own Howard Webb

One thing I don't understand that I heard on the BBC this morning is that Man Utd are un-defeated in Europe since 2005........

Edit: NVM I just read on the BBC website it was at Old Traffod, the stupid gimp who does the sport didn't mention that.
