Midweek Football Thread - 18th/19th

Knew Man Utd's midfield weren't going to be as good, that's 2 championship teams who drifted through Man Utd's midfield for 90 minutes without too much bother, would never have happened in years gone by! Ferg will probably buy an awesome CM now though

Didn't Arsenal lose to Hull & Stoke last season? They were Championship teams! People in glass houses and all that....

22:20 Hull City boss Phil Brown after his side's 5-1 home defeat by Tottenham: "I don't think, hand on heart, 5-1 flattered Tottenham tonight - they were fabulous. It's difficult to say to our boys to go out there and do what Spurs do because the gulf in class looks alarming. Luckily, though, we don't have to play Tottenham every week and next up we have Bolton, where we'll need to dig in and respond. The fact is, though, that anyone who played Spurs tonight will have got a hiding, I think."
Wenger apparently was watching and thought Hull had good possession, played well, and were the better team despite the score.
Can you believe that?

Oops, sorry. That quote was from a different 5-1.

:D

Oh yes I certainly think after 2 short sub appearances and 60 mins last night we can entirely write him off....not.

The chances last night, the first was a deflected cross that took the ball away from him, and the second which, while it was an ok chance was a header, hardly Owen's strength.

I'm not entirely writing him off at all, I just think his problems are deeper than confidence and a lack of match fitness which I initially thought were the reasons for his poor competitive goal return.

Owen always have and always will go through long spells without scoring. He doesn't score consistently, he gets his goals in bursts.
