Celtic just don't have what it takes.

Celtic and Rangers in the Premier league?. Don't make me laugh.

Maybe now these Scots who bang on about Rangers and Celtic joining the Prem will shut up.
League 2 maybe, but no higher.

Having watched this match tonight, if this is the best Celtic/Rangers can offer then **** me.
If they ever do go for letting them in then they should start at the bottom....I.E non league & work your way up.

That said Arsenel were **** as well.

Arsenal seemed to let Celtic have the ball and then whenever they came near the Arsenal goal, Celtic ran out of ideas and Arsenal won it back. Even at 1 - 0 I wasn't really worried about Celtic scoring, no real class up front and no midfield player who could burst through the middle/play the killer ball. This could all be because Song was absolutely top class (and Vermaelen, again). Great to see Arsenal chasing everything down for 90 minutes again, the movement off the ball at the moment is brilliant, organised and effective, very encouraging defensive display and a fantastic result.

The goals were lucky essentially, but Arsenal were the team getting into the right positions all the time and being far more potent and dangerous in attack, I suppose you make your own luck!

To be fair if Celtic and Rangers were allowed into the Prem they have the fanbase to financially compete with the top 6 and would eventually do pretty well.

However with thier current squads they would struggle.

Agreed with all of the defensive praise. I think we looked very good defensively and from my point of view I can only remember one attack that I deemed dangerous to us. If Samaras is the most dangerous scorer that Celtic have then maybe they need to look at bringing in another striker. Vermaelen was very strong, Sagna made some good runs and crosses, Gallas was lucky with the deflection but played well defensively, and Clichy was very good also. I agree that Song played a very good game and Diaby's first few touches were brilliant.

Good game, I feel sorry for Celtic in the way that the goals were scored but I don't believe that is why we won the game, I believe we definitely outplayed Celtic and we deserved to win, no matter how that win came. The 2nd leg should be very good, I hope Sky are broadcasting that but lets get Martin Tyler and Andy Gray in for commentary please. Oh, and I'll be looking forward to actually being able to properly see the players instead of the camera angles making it look like a bunch of ants chasing a white speck about.

Oh well, in that case lets give Wigan the money that Chelsea get, then we can ignore rangers and Celtic.

Celtic AT HOME, played for a nil nil draw, how good is that.

Birmingham city played Man u looking for a draw at the weekend.........because they are scared of the drop.

Exactly what Rangers and Celtic would do.

You need the fanbase as well, pretty much a lot of the premiership teams dont have that and thats where they struggle to generate the revenue throughout the fans and of course worldwide.

Like Man Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool as examples Rangers and Celtic both are known worldwide, their exposure in a top league like the Premiership would drive them forward no end at all.

They wouldnt make an impact immeadiately but they would start to attract better players and investment no problem at all and move up that league no problem at all.

***Onto tonights game***

The Dutch defender looks to be a top quality signing :)

Only if they have the away fans. They already have the home fans, and that would not be enough.

I didn't know Arsenal had a Dutch defender.:D

When 3000 bother to travel from Glasgow to Pompey for a pre season friendly I think we'd be ok in that regard.

Ok I got it wrong :p assumed he was Dutch from the name....I dunno haha!

However even more impressively he is a good Belgian defender :p

I was hoping for, but not really expecting, something from tonights game. But we didn't really deserve anything from it. (I'm not sure what Mowbray was thinking playing Samaras up front on his own, and I've not been impressed with Fortune from what I've seen of him so far.) I was impressed with Arsenal's workrate through most of the game though, only normally see them on match of the day and can't remember them closing down so much as high up the pitch. If they can keep that up throughout the season, added to their obvious class on the ball, it could be a good year for them.
