Midweek Football Thread. *spoilers* 25-27

Haha!! Love it. :D

Kenny Dalglish looks well also, which is good. :)

Indeed he does ! Always nice to see ex greats looking well :)

Wigan are an awful team at the moment.

I think I'll copy that for bannage reasons later.

They're not looking to good, The 5 goals they shipped against United must have knocked what little confidence they had.

TO be fair there was very minimal contact and you could go the route of thinking he went down safely rather than wait for a massive tackle and risk injury with legs flying and twisting everywhere. I could easily understand him of all people being very worried about a harsh fall and injury, but still was rather weak, I do think he was expecting a lot more contact and was making it easier but went a little overboard.

Not going to brand anyone a diver for one dive though as I can't name a player who hasn't done it once, hopefully it will be the first and last time for him.

Seriously DM!?

Eddy dived, simple as that, there was NO contact, it is as simple as that. He dived, he cheated so that his team could gain a penalty and a goal. I don't care who you are, or who you play for you shouldn't dive.

@ the person who made a comment about Gerrard, if you've been on the forums at all last season, you'll know he's come in for his fair share of abuse when he cheats.

Arsenal, are a wonderful football side, with some gifted football players, they don't need to cheat to win games.

Arshavin is the best player in the Premiership IMO.

Wouldn't go that far to be honest, he has adapted very well to the league and has been outstanding for Arsenal, one of your top players.

I can't believe DM and djmc0 were defending the dive :p

No contact, Eddy dived to win a penalty, Ref bought it. Very simple.

oh and bull **** at the theory he dived to "avoid" injury.

Andy Towns is a complete tool, I don't see how anyone can defend diving, it's unfortunately become embedded in the game and by letting teams / players get away with things like this it will continue to do so.

bahh !

Go find a replay or look on youtube ;)
You'll enjoy it :D

He's been transfer listed over that, and because he's a bit ****.

He averages 4 goals a season :D hahaha

Bahh ! CAN'T WAIT ! to play you lot !

Dive or no dive, there were 2 other goals and Celtic never looked like they were going to win the game, so hardly robbed.

Interesting, because I'm of the opinion Arsenal didn't and don't need to cheat to win football games.

Arsenal were in control, why cheat?

Anyway, less about this, Newcastle were 1-3 down to Huddersfield ! :p
Good of them to come back.

It's an over reaction to the dive.

He dived, nobody can say he didn't.
I'm enjoying the witch hunt though, some of the punishments people are throwing around are laughable :)

But there was contact, Boruc's leg hit Eduardo's leg causing the initial fall from Eduardo (no where near enough contact to go down, still, contact) and also Boruc's arm touched Eduardo's legs too I think*. He went down to con the ref but I'm sure I see similar every few weeks, people are over reacting on this one. I've seen MULTIPLE cases where Stevie G doesn't even wait for contact, he's on the floor before anybody has seen him, much less touched him.

oh please.

Eddy dived there was no contact, or are we counting the goal keepers invisible arm pushing him over.

Eddy dived, cheated, to get a penalty.

I also, take note that Celtic could still be playing now and wouldn't of scored, does this somehow make the fact a player cheated right ?

I don't think a team, as wonderful as Arsenal need to cheat to win football games. The media / football fans are over reacting and the witch hunt is amusing.

If you post here a lot, you'll also know that Gerrard gets his fair share of stick over his dives. In fact I made a thread about it ages ago. All players dive, it's part of the game, it needs to be stamped out.

But there was contact, Boruc's leg hit Eduardo's leg causing the initial fall from Eduardo.

I don't think they cheated to win the game

Yeah, don't assume I think what Eduardo did was fair, he conned the ref. Still, bit of an over reaction on here

You're defending him. Don't he cheated. Arsenal, proved they are more then good enough to beat Celtic without cheating.

He dived, he proved that he would do that last night.

Arsenal didn't need to cheat to win the game, said it a million times.
Just because it's happened against you, it doesn't make it right for you to do it "two wrongs don't make a right" "an eye for an eye will make the world blind" and all that.

Diving needs to be stamped out, don't defend any player that does it, not even your own.
