Manchester United have out injured;

Gary Neville (groin)
Nemanja Vidic (flu)
Rio Ferdinand (calf)
Jonny Evans (calf)
John O'Shea (thigh)
Rafael da Silva (injury)
Fabio da Silva (groin)
Edwin van der Sar (knee)
Wes Brown (limped off)
Owen Hargreaves (knees)

See now Wenger, is the time to field the weakest side possible. No need whatsoever for any of our first team to travel to Greece.

Edit - especially with Liverpool this Sunday. Bugger, we all forgot to get tickets >_<.

So we have one fit defender really (plus never played before Oliver Gill)

I want either:

Fletcher, Carrick, Gibson, Evra
Park, Carrick, Fletcher, Evra

Not sure about Gill, so don't really no what to do with him.

Apparently Rooney and Berbatov are both injured as well.

I read that O'Shea and Evans are out for a month, that's quite a hit and they have to play Villa who are good counter attackers and Fulham which isn't an easy game, could drop some points with a dodgy defence. Great :D!

Aha, apologies. Having checked uefa rules it appears that even if Wolfsburg win and CSKA win by 3 away at Besiktas you'd still qualify second despite finishing the league third on goal difference. Well done ;)

Yeah, CL groups go on head-to-head results, not goal difference, in the event of two teams being tied on points. :)

Otherwise that loss to Besiktas would have had me bouncing off the walls. :p

We have about 10 players out, all first time or backup first team.

Rooney and Berba are out, hense why they have not flown, and are a doubt for Saturday.

He could do that but theres a chance even the youngsters will get injured or a few of them...curse our luck with injuries this season:(.

Although i heard that RVP might not be out for 5mths as first thought but still couldnt see him in the side before New yrs or even afterwards.

Just wish Wenger would strengthen the damn side...get a decent striker who can put the ball in the back of the net as we seem to make plenty of chances but havent got that 'fox in the box' type of player that other sides have.

rumour has it that Fletcher and Carrick will be centre halfs and Valencia will be right back, from an experience point of view I actually think that could possibly work (well better than an untested centre half and Fletcher at RB)

I also have a suspicion that Rooney and Berba were never going to play and its more "rested" than injured ( maybe Berba is still recovering from hiw last injury and not worth risking)

I thought Gibson was pretty short -hmmm ok same size as Wes Brown so maybe not, but not worth the risk with his inexperience if you ask me.

We don't need another striker, as shown Arshavin finally put back in the middle was effective, he's NOT a winger, has never been a winger and all his goals/best work come in the box not out wide. All his Liverpool goals were basically from the middle and from being far up the pitch when a counter attack started, he looked great for the first time in ages, as a striker. The problem is, Arshavin, Nasri, Rosicky, Ramsey, , Eduardo, Vela and several others are all central players we've pushed out wide. Why not push them back inside, and buy some real wingers, pace to burn, actually prefer the wing, can actually cross, can provide real width without looking to come inside all game long.

Against Chelsea it showed what a lack of width, speed and penetration we had on the wing, both our "wingers" for the day spent the entire game cutting inside moving into an incredibly congested and narrow midfield.

If we buy yet another expensive central player, when RVP, Bendtner, Eduardo are all fighting fit we'll have just another central player vying for a single strikers position. We had it bad with 7-8 "strikers" and playing 4-4-2, 4-5-1/4-3-3 has made that a single real central position. If we buy some damn out and out wingers, we could actually play our best players in their best positions. As it stands we tend to play either Nasri, Rosicky or Arshavin on the left, all right footers, all prefer a central role who are all better in the middle and pushed forwards.

Why buy an overly expensive striker and continue playing them out of position when we have the chance to buy an actual left winger, play him in his favoured position and play our current players in their prefered position?

Games today/tomorrow might be interesting for seeing some lesser used players, will Wilshire actually get a game in the first team for a change? Will we give Vela a chance to establish some match fitness/form. I have no clue tbh, I do want to see Silvestre play as he was very impressive the other day, want to see if that was a one off or if he's maybe back to form which could make him a very useful player this year.

Agree with everything you said DM apart from that:

In my opinion none of our players in recent years have been overly expensive. By recent years I'm talking the last 2 or 3 seasons. On his day Arshavin is one of the best in the world and a player that most people would put in their team. That said he does have a bit of a temperament issue and he can sometimes go MIA during a match.

Tomorrow night I don't want to see Fabregas, Vermaelen et al in Greece. I want to see youth players, but with one or two older heads from the first team joining them, even if the first team players sit on the bench at least we'll have some quality to call on if we need it. It isn't an important game but you don't go and put a team out that can't compete.

I'd like to see Walcott start, if he gets injured again I'll be less than impressed. I'd give Vela a chance to build up some form, I'd give Wilshere his first Champions League start and I want to see Silvestre and Senderos starting as well.

Oh and I've just heard Rosicky is yet again injured.
