Mighty Boosh, I've tried but I cannot understand you.

So I've got in from the pub, sat down in front of the telly with my trusty four cheese pizza in front of the licence fee payer's finest wonder on BBC3 and I've been confronted with "The Boosh".

I've sat here for 15 minutes, watched "a shamen" cut some chap's head off and some other bod stumble into a cupboard with said shamen's Mrs. I don't get it, it's not even raised the slightest smirk or giggle... what the hell is so popular about this show? Or did I just unfortunately catch the worst 15 minutes of TV going?
 
OMG, it's so random, I don't properly understand it, so it must be funny. Hahahaha!

No, I don't get it either. It's the Russell Brand genre of comedy - just be SO odd that you don't really make any sense, and people will laugh along in fear of sounding like they don't understand.

If you want weird, AND funny, try Emo Philips. Very amusing!
 
Eddie Murphy stand up is funny, Richard Pryor's "Pryor Convictions" is funny, Eddie Izzard is funny, blimey even old school Reeves and Mortimer, Bottom, Young Ones and Filthy Rich and Catflap is funny... but this? It's just a random montage of long hair and weirdos culminating in a room trying to stick to a vague story line... (apparently). I must be getting old or something, because this is totally beyond me...

I'm waiting for Azagoth to explain why tbh, because I'm totally stumped.
 
don't try and understand the boosh

the boosh is just the boosh, it doesn't make sense but it is oooh so funny, new series not so much but there are moments, some stuff from the 1st 2 series is genius but it's not for everyone
 
eddie murphy's stand up is about as funny as a rectal examination. as with bottom.

see how opinions differ? :D its random and the wording and subtle jokes are funny to me, and others. the songs are cool and its different to the repeat of friends/hollyoaks that is on 24/7 :) it amuses me.
 
Season 2 is/was the best season, Season 3 has been fairly disappointing. I watched the first three episodes and just lost interest really. The policy taken by Ricky Gervais is a very sensible idea, end it after the second series, because its still funny then.

Ah totally, I can understand how opinions differ but I've always thought of myself as someone who can understand the different sides of comedy but this is just totally beyond comprehension in my book.

Eddie Murphy was observational, his comedy relied on the topical stylings of the 80's (and the taboos to get the real laughs). Bottom was slapstick at it's finest, Rik Mayall and Ade Edmundson using every tool in the book to get laughs from all corners of the audience - no matter how meagre.

But I just don't understand what makes The Boosh funny, I don't see where the laughs are coming from!
 
surely you either like it or you don't?

I'm not sure of the need to question why other people like it and it aggravates me when people criticize it on here.

personally I cant stand anything remotely to do with Ricky Gervais but i can understand that some people just find different things funny and i don't spend my days worrying about it.

EDIT: my confusion isnt really aimed at OP but at the people who i've read comments from on here before with regards to things like this
 
Ricky Gervais.... don't get me started. I hate that guy. Sums him up on that concert in the summer, where he was kept on stage until the next act was coming on and all he had was "the dance"... Oh dear Ricky! Shame I can't swear here!!

But yeah comedy is strange, lots of strange tastes!
 
My ex always used to try and make me watch it and like it, but i cant find it funny atall.

I find Noel funny when he's on his own, on quiz shows or whatever but the boosh fails with me.

i suppose its just a marmite thing ???

aye, for me i dont really like slapstick, i can appreciate the young ones but it wont make me laugh a lot, etc etc.
i like the wording of the boosh, the contrast between the two main characters (and the other regulars that make it a bit more complex than "oh a chalk and cheese program") and just the bizzare. it amuses me in real life so in a tv show its a similar reaction.
