Mince Pies... 2010

Mr. Kipling... that's the problem.

I'm not a huge fan of Mince Pies, as I find the same that if you go for a cheapo one, it's not really very good with not a nice aftertaste.

The only ones I like are the ones my parents tend to get which are Waitrose All Butter Mincepies. Bit more expensive but taste really nice.

Mr Kipling... I am disappoint. Maybe it was just the batch I got, but my god they're awful. Crumbly soggy pastry and flavourless innards. Do not want.

So far I've tried Greggs', Tesco's and Mr Kipling's. Greggs are in the lead by far in my opinion.

Maybe we can have a poll?
Stay away from Sainsburys own. They make the ones you mentioned gourmet. I don't know how Sainsburys can get away with selling such muck

Will try a Gregg's one, as there's one on the way to work and there's a box of Tesco's ones sat in my drawer ready for some face stuffing :p

I was thinking about this the other day... I think I can say with almost total assurance that I have never eaten a shop bought mince pie, I think quite literally every mince that has ever been in my mouth has been made by my mum.
I am perfectly happy with this set up :)

Ive had a Waitrose one this year (so far) and it was pretty good but at the price id expect it to be.

Usually just have Tesco ones warmed up with a splash of double cream then i turn it into some kind of minepie paste in a bowl. Yeah im weird.

I hate brandy butter, tried that before on them warm. rank

Greggss are smashing it by far with their Viennese Mince Pies! We have a Greggs on campus at uni and it has become a daily occurrence now to have a couple of these.

greggs are ok, but they need either less pastry or more filling, i hate pies of any kind that arent full to the brim.

at the mo' im liking the iced ones from ASDA.

ill eventually make some myself though which will be great, maybe next weekend.
