Mini fail

Is it actually chrome plated, or a Dupont Chromalusion style paint finish? A plated finish would be harder to scratch/mark than a painted one.

Either way, I'm sure someone will insure it. Might not be as cheap as a standard BINI, might be very expensive. But it will be available.

it will be the paint that i posted a vid to on the first page i expect.

How is it even legal to have a car that reflects everything. I wouldn't want to catch it in my headlights for fear of blinding everyone.

Am I the only person calling this article BULL****!?

I reckon he wants a bit if publicity because he's bought a £40k Mini, I've just put the reg onto my insurance adding site (trade policy) and clicked special finish and it's accepted it straight away.

Sometimes if I buy something odd it asks me to ring the insurance company to cover that particular car, but no probs here!

Just what I was thinking! An actual chromium plated car would be more resistant to damage than normal paint.

Must be some weird chrome paint I guess

Edit: Doh beaten by about 5 posts haha.

he's definately stretching the truth of the phrase "un-insurable"

as you said, just after getting in the papers. There are loads of specialist brokers who wouldnt bat an eyelid at stuff like this. They will insure 1000bhp supras etc.. so a mini with some fancy paint will be a piece of cake.

"LG10SSK is NOT on the Motor Insurance Database today"

The weeks free insurance was through Aviva, I give to all my customers, they also quote you the price of a 12 month policy when you sign up to the free policy, so I can't understand why they don't take policy out with them!

Doesn't update straight away, and anyway just did it to see if they'll accept it and I removed it straight away.

Point is that the car isnt insured by the owner - so it's not complete BS....he obviously cant insure it or doesnt want to

Because they'll give the free 7 day policy out even if they cannot offer you a proper policy.

Does it matter? Wouldn't you agree that there should be plenty of other things on the list between "send kids to university" and "buy chrome plated mini"? It gives his occupation as "builder".

A friend of my parents has the occupation of 'builder' you could say. He's a multimillionaire. What's your point?

Anyway, what an awful car.

I've never experienced this, I have had a customer refused 7 days cover aswell as a 12 month policy because of the car.

I got 7 day on the Z4 but then they refused to allow me on the policy for the 12 month so couldnt quote unless I was removed.
