MINI MOTO MAYHEM

Any updates? this page is lacking mini moto photos :(

Them exhausts would have made perfect res' if you could have fabricated it in some how.

The exhausts should have been literal, ducting the radiator fans to blow out of the exhausts :D

but how would he ride it into a Lan party then?

It's powered by an electric motor so the exhausts are only for show anyway.

Fantastic project

Been following this from the start, awesome updates and awesome overall :D

Thanks guys, much appreciated. :)

I hear what you're saying with the exhaust, I thought the exact same thing while I was working on them. A couple of tube reservoirs (easy peasy) but the tank was the logical choice and more in your face, to show off Mayhems coolant ... It's about giving the sponsor more bang per buck. I honestly think that some builds take the p**s out of their sponsors. :)

Greboth is right the bike is fitted with an electric motor, there is a video in this build log of the test ride. (you haven't just been looking at the pics have you ? )

Thanks for clearing up some questions for me :D I'm suprised how busy this forum is and yeah I know it's frustrating waiting for updates. I have to fit in modding time with family, work and "me time"

The progress this week has just been about paint, and waiting for it to dry.. I'm sure you don't want pics of paint drying ?? :D:D but seriously I did have a few problems with me being too greedy and putting down too much paint and it sagging. so I've had to wait untill that paint has got hard enough to be sanded down but it's getting there. A shoddy paint job will completely ruin the build.

The exhaust could have been "literal" and taken away warm air but I really don't think that the fans would generate enough pressure to actually exit the exhaust as running pipes and the actual internals of the exhaust would be too restrictive and actually have the complete opposite effect.

It's good that people take an interest in this build, you're comments are much appreciated... no really they are :)

Blue lights in the exhaust would look mint

I'm going to have to have a look into that idea, someone else suggested it and I won't dismiss the idea. Thank You

Brilliant, I think I should be getting some kind of commission. How is the screen performing ?

Pretty well so far, I've been playing around with the layout of the screen and have had a go at creating my own icons. It is time consuming but I could sit all day quite happily tweaking things. Here's the layout I was thinking about for my upcoming Bitspower themed build:

The fan sensors aren't hooked up to anything at the moment as I have a fan controller.

The layout above is my default profile. I want to use the same layout while gaming too.

When I tested this with 3DMARK the default profile automatically changed to the gaming profile (blank screen). At this point I thought **** I'm going to have to lay everything out twice

Then it occurred to me that I could just copy the LCDSysOptionsOW registry entries to LCDSysOptionsWG :)

Worked perfectly and saved me a lot of time!

@Bluntwrapped

Thanks for sharing, I've plugged mine into my PC and I've been having a play, you're dead right about tweeking the screen ... I happily messed about for an hour but had to force myself to shut it down as I'd have probably wasted a day on it. I'll save that for later, Did you know you can change the colours of the text ?

UPDATE 10/09/13

So now I have a few weeks off, Time to knuckle down and get some progress done.

First off I have had a stand delivered, A nice new i5k Haswell CPU, some water blocks and some other stuff....

The stand works well, It took a bit of beating to get it to fit where I wanted it, but it makes the bike much easier to work on.

picture.php

I have solved a problem I had with routing the GPU block back into the bike, I ordered up a SLI block from EK and chopped it down to the length I need, I just need to get another link block. (Hard to find) If anyone has one that they haven't used get in contact please.

A small section of the frame was cut out the make room for the block, You'll also notice that I cut a small hole for the GPU cables as they'll run through the frame.

picture.php

Here's the off cuts from the water blocks.

picture.php

The CPU is fitted, Block installed and I started to sort out the Hard acrylic tubing.

picture.php

More decals have arrived, here's the front mudguard... Just a small nod to ASUS. The mudguard will have a very light dusting of blue flake and finally lacquered.

picture.php

The side panels are getting prepped for airbrushing, if you look closely you can make out the Mayhems droplet masks. These will be ghosted in.

picture.php

I have painted the front panel, this is a blue pearlescent paint the number will be added and again a very light dusting of blue flake. I've added the panel to show the contrast between panels.

picture.php

and finally ... the bike is now broken down for paint and finish, here's the frame ready to go to powder coat tomorrow.... I'm sooo looking forward to see this transform.

What are your short/mid/long term plans for this build?

Sort term - Get it finished and running to a level I'm satisfied with.

Mid term - Get the build to as many shows/Lan events as possible (need to get some exposure for the sponsors and myself)

Long term - Hopefully it will open up opportunities to work with other manufacturers.

I'll probably put the bike into a custom bike show too, it will be interesting to see the bike worlds reaction

UPDATE 16/09/13

While the frame is away, I have been working on the wheels and front end of the bike. When the frame is ready I want the rolling chassis sorted.

First up is the wheels, the rims have been polished, then the tyres and rims have been masked off with tape for priming.

picture.php

All the new bits for the front end have been assembled and look so much better than the rusty old bent one.

picture.php

I made up some templates, one for the GPU backplate and the other for the VRM daughter board to protect it from my boots when riding the bike. These where transfered onto acrylic, cut out, filed, sanded and polished.

picture.php

The GPU backplate breaks up the big slab of circuit board, and with a few random angles both plates tie in with the ROG theme ohh and just to be sure people know what coolant is being used Mayhems web address to remind them.

picture.php

You'll notice that the rest of the hard acrylic tubing has been done, also the EK waterblocks have been polished.

picture.php

I like how the internals of the link blocks show through, talking about link blocks .... after contacting them looking for another link block, EK have now added them to their web shop

picture.php

I've had a delivery from Mayhems....

picture.php

Mick has sent through his new UV Yellow, I don't think it will suit the build but I will have a try anyway, also he sent through all the dye colours.

A nice range of blues

picture.php

Reds leading on to pink ... (nice but I'll skip the pink)

picture.php

and some green and yellows

picture.php

A big thanks to Mayhems, I will be having a good play with colours and trying to chose a short list for a poll.

any suggestions will be welcome ....
