Missing forum member

A couple of years ago I was trying to hunt down members of an old Delta Force gaming clan I was a member of in the late 90s.

What clan were you in? I remember playing delta force ages ago. Guess it depends on which update you played on whether i will have heard of you.

Well it would help if you stopped twisting my words, then arguing against the abortion of a sentence that you've made up.

Before you claim to have not twisted my words, show me where I've said that that means nothing, otherwise stop moaning.

i really don't have anything more to add to that. other people who read this can make their own minds up.

Original Delta Force 1 and 2. I think 1 was released around 98 and 2 was 99 or 00. We played those mostly until the original AA release in 02. I only stayed playing AA for a few months as beer and birds became much more interesting. Was a US/Canadian based clan TAC squad. Tags were [tac] in both 1 and 2 and AA.

If you want to twist people's words

is this the bit where i'm twisting your words??? if not, you'll have to point it out to me.

If you refund them, how have you scammed them, and why would you do that?

so withholding goods/money for weeks/months on end means nothing to you? i'm glad we've cleared that up.

again, i'll just refer you to my last comment. :/

i hardly think asking people to think for themselves is a cop out.

After reading through this thread, and knowing absolutely nothing about the incident of Shayper and the money/scam, whatever people want to call it, you appear to just love having a moan and complain about people. It's pretty much all you've done in this thread.

Just so I don't get accused of being some sort of "apologist" (which by the way, the use of that saying/phrase is getting very tiresome!) I don't know what this Shayper guy did, and until I did so that I could make my own decision, I wouldn't deal with him.

oh that makes it alright then.

you must really have a boner for the guy trying to defend the indefensible. this post was a whole month after this poster's first post querying where his money was.

regardless of how skint you are, there is no excuse for not sending the goods. either you're advertising stuff you don't own, trying to sell it off on multiple websites or just have no intention of sending anything at all. there is no justification at all for not responding to any request for updates.

super late edit: i must remember to avoid Acme in any MM deals.

Lol, my my you have got your knickers in a twist over nothing havent you. :p

I didn't say that made it alright at any point, all I did was filled in the gaps of your story. I noted how you chose to omit most of what I said in your quote.

I didn't say there is any justification for what he did, I just said that he put it right in the end, accepts his permaban, and is remorseful. Its in the past. It doesn't matter past that anymore.

Oh and as for the last comment, check my trust.

It's not right, but he's apologised and made amends. Why are you so determined to burn him at the stake?

Do you not believe people make mistakes, or that they can change for the better?

The point the other poster is making is that a true scammer wouldn't have tried to make things right. Theft in turn is defined as the 'permanent intention to deprive'. It's not okay that it happened, but there may always be reasons. The fact is, he tried to put it right.

That maybe so, but the fact is he did go through with ripping somebody off for a few quid, the intention to steal was there to try and get away with it.

Where did I say I was condoning it? What's done is done but a true thief/scammer wouldn't have been remorseful and made things right.

A true thief/scammer could quite easily be full of apologies and general bull when caught red handed. I'm not saying it's the case that he wasn't genuine but the idea that a thief who wasn't remorseful and had no intention of changing wouldn't try to return what they had obtained and manipulate people's view of them after the fact seems like rather strange conclusion to make.

I'm not denying that. But as it stands here, he self-excluded from the forums so it seems pretty clear he feels embarrassed and guilty about it. That said, trust and respect is easily lost.

Anyone is capable of doing some really stupid things given the right concoction of circumstances.
