Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning (Part One)

2 is also one of the few films that has a Limp Bizkit song on the soundtrack that was actually surprisingly good.

It's definitely not as good as the ones that follow but it's still a fun film.

I do enjoy these movies, especially 2. It's of its time with some great combinations of score and action (plus John Woo and his white doves :D).

The wow factor of the stunts themselves aren't all that, we've seen it all before. Back in the day there were VHS tapes of greatest stunts etc that I would never have seen elsewhere and now with the internet we're all desensitised to big stunts with or without CGI.

I think the take-way from this is the cinematography, the footage they're capturing in proximity of the action without CGI is what sets this apart. We'll just have to see how it translates to the movie. It's also not a "one and done" setup, he's done it multiple times to get the right conditions and footage.

Looking forward to this, the MI continues to out do itself. The fact that Tom does his own stunts of this magnitude is pretty incredible, his insurance must be half the budget alone!!

You are the only person I know who enjoys that piece of ****!
I really liked it at the time, not seen it for a while , but John Woo doing his thing had its moments, particularly back then.

Quite liked 3, mostly for the great opening heli chase through the windfarm whilst Kerri Russells head explodes.

I really can't remember 3, I just watched a trailer but not much is coming back to me.. guess I'll be watching that tonight then! (guaranteed it'll all come flooding back though, but I like the films so sod it!)

I did aswell, though it was a few years back now!

Quite timely: I bought the Mission Impossible 4K UHD blu-ray boxset and watched Ghost Protocol on Friday night.

I don't rate MI:2, but the others are all decent movies.

If I had to put them in order from best to worst I would probably say:

MI:3
MI:5 Rogue Nation,
Mission Impossible (1),
MI:4 Ghost Protocol
MI:2

I've read the discussion and would be intrigued to know what FoxEye's top 10 movies of all time are, so we could gauge what his tastes are like...

Ghost Protocol is a silly action movie, but it's also not a bad movie.

Looks good, as usual, Tom Cruise will deliver the goods again!

This 2 part stuff is starting to annoy me though. Fast X, Dune and now this. I can only guess they saw the money that infinity war and endgame made and want a piece of that.I f you're gonna make a 2 parter, film it all at once and announce the release date closer together ala BTTF 2 and 3.

Originally it was supposed to be filmed back to back, but Covid happened.

Tom Cruise is finally starting to age though, so I wonder how jarring it might be with 2 years between filming
