This is one of the few things I miss about the UK. I used to watch at least 2 films a year in IMAX, usually BFI. I can't even count the number of films I would have loved to have seen in IMAX in the last 10 years in Spain. MI5 and MI6 being 2 of them.

I live in Barcelona. Most cinemas in Spain show the dubbed Spanish version of Hollywood films. They might have 1 VOSE (original language audio) showing per week on their crappiest screen . So even the 1 cinema that has an IMAX screen would only show the dubbed version of the big films. All the VOSE films also have hardcoded Spanish subtitles, but you sort of get used to that after a while. In the beginning it was a bit distracting!
As I'm in a big city there is 2 dedicated cinemas that show only VOSE films. They are new-ish and not really that busy as it's just youngsters, foreigners and tourists who want to watch the English version. So the screens, seats, cleanliness etc is great almost as good as some central London screens. But at best one of them has an Atmos screen and the rest are all just normal Dolby surround. It's a big step down when I used to go to the largest IMAX screen in Europe twice a year .
Yeah they took over from James Bond for me. The last 3 or 4 bond films? have just been a complete and utter load of crap, and these MI films are now the big set piece stunt crown holders.
But it makes it even better with it being Tom Cruise himself doing most of the stunts. The helicopter scene in the last one (i think) was absolutely phenomenal.

Just back from seeing it, first off, whoever was working the IMAX screen decided we all needed a hearing test, got some full on chest thumps from the bass in it.
Trailers where good..its not really the story you think it is, in fact the trailers where a bit misleading in a good way.
Faster paced than fallout I feel, but the action set pieces, everyone is a marvel, with some good comic timing thrown in at the right parts.
Overall maybe not as good as Fallout, but thinking about it, Fallout had the story boost of kind of being a tied up sequel to Rouge Nation, I think that bumped the stakes up in the film, This is clearly a First part, that is setting what's at stake for everyone, if that makes sense. The film is contained within itself really, no need to see previous films, and so is the ending with a clear thread story leading to part two.
You know its coming..that BIG jump on the bike, theirs just a funny moment before it and the way the camera slowly pans in the background to a huge cliff ramp, as he argues about how he's meant to jump of with enough height to make it. Its great direction kinda like, "You know it..We know it, lets not pretend" kind of moment and just put a stupid smile on my face.
TC to me is a bit of a fruit cake, but he does damn good action movies, even his 5'6" frame being used to portray a char that was 6'" in the books (reacher), didn't stop him from making those films good. Last time I was at the cinema was for TG2, and now hopwfully I'll get again for this MI film.

look out for Oppenheimer that getting global Imax release and filmed entirely in imax plus there a 70mm version but only few cinemas are capable of showing it in imax 70mm.
