Mister FPGA

I was tempted but the mister pi has it all covered interested by things like the Tang Console though that possibly increase the capabilities and what’s capable on the fpga platform.
I think the MiSter Pi is the better product, as the RAM can be upgraded. I don't think anyone would be missing out not buying the SuperStation. The Tang FPGA is certainly interesting, I will be keeping an eye on that, the price is quite unreal.

Yeah, I'm hoping the Tang Console 138K will be the happy ground between MiSTer and Analogue Pocket, hopefully we will see MK and NARC etc come over to it

I'd like to explore fpga but Mister pi totally sold out, as is the Analogue 3D.

I've seen the de10 but it seems pretty overpriced.

Any other cheap, beginner options?

There is the QMTECH MiSTer, @Zaf has one and could probably advise. Other than that, the Tang board is looking good and will be amazing if cores can get easily ported over.

I've also got a MiSTER Pi and there isn't really any difference between that and QMTECH. Generally speaking the QMTECH boards are easier to get hold of than MiSTER Pi.

I've just checked and the QMTECH with 128MB SDRAM, IO Board and case is in stock for £144

The analogue 3d, whilst FPGA is only for N64.
It's N64 I'm primarily interested in, or was, as I'm really looking forward to all the other systems now I've been watching more videos.

I was planning on buying an old console but it is a lottery on eBay, and then you have to think about getting it recapped, and then it's the hassle of connectors for modern TVs as I don't have a CRT... I thought the Analogue 3D would be perfect but usual stock BS.

Fair points, I see you're in Yorkshire, if you're near York I'd highly recommend visiting Sore Thumb Retro Games. I bought my Jap N64 from there and it's been absolutely spot on. Connect it via a simple HDMI adapter and it's great (obvious blurry visuals from the N64 aside!)

Can I ask how much you paid for the N64?

My QM Tech is on the way, hopefully I'll have it soon.

Would you folks recommend a USB Bluetooth and WiFi combo or are there known issues with these? I get the WiFi won't be the fastest but that's fine as not like it needs a constant connection.

There are a bunch on sale and many seem to be driver free so I'm hoping it would be plug and play.

I was concerned the bluetooth though might be a bit laggy, any thoughts?

I use a Asus BT adapter with mine, I stopped using a WiFi dongle (the one I do have though was from Misterfpga.co.uk and it worked well) as I plug mine in via ethernet to update. That WiFi dongle was working well, but we've moved our router about and I kept struggling to get internet access, I now have a new router and may test it out (it is more convenient).

The Asus bluetooth adapter works very well, I was having issues with a dual WiFi/BT dongle that came with the MiSTer Pi. I have not noticed any input lag personally. You can pick them up for around £13.

My other MiSTer uses a cheap 'Ekobuy' BT4.0 adapter that I have had for years. Seems to work fine.

Other controllers I use have 2.4ghz dongles.

Mine has been sitting in "Package leaving origin country/region" since the 9th, was hoping it would be here this week but guess not.
It is coming from China, I know sometimes AliExpress advertises 7 day delivery but most of the time it takes 10+ days in my experience. Still better than waiting months for the next batch of MiSTER Pi's :)
