I got quoted about £4000 to get mine resprayed. And that was from a very reputable place. £5500 is ridiculous unless you're planning on a colour change and need to remove the engine etc.

i've viewed that many times, but it's too far away to take a look, esp if it's a real dog.

a white car with overexposed photos, it hides all the paint faults i've learnt that with 4Star, finally he's modded the engine, a silly blow off valve and a boost controller.

is it worth paying £100 to get the car inspected while i remain at home waiting, not if i have grave doubts already. i'll only get an Evo inspected up North if i'm sure it's worth it

Blow off valve and turbo timer are pretty common mods.. would take about 15 mins to remove them..if you wanted to..

what are your grave concerns?

I had the chance of buying a 30,000 miles Evo IX MR 360 last year for around £17k. Should have done the deal and sold it now for a large profit. Hindsight...

Plus your quote wasn't just a respray, there was other work as well.

it's expensive because the whole car has to stripped back.....plus everything removed, 2 weeks labour, it's a hell of a lot of work

it gives clues that it might have been thrashed

Give over. It's an Evo.

i put a blitz dsbc and apexi and then SARD r2d2 bov on my mr2 and had an ARC IC ready for it and i never thrashed it. I drove it like it was a baby stroller.

Having a few choice mods owned by someone who loved the car is no bad thing.

So you're disgarding one car because it has a BOV and a TT but looking at one with a 2.3 stroker kit?

I see...Personally i would avoid someone elses project. Its just too much, a few choice mods sure. Fully modded and waiting to blow up? err..

no these aren't the same cars as the ones with the silly mods that you get on Ebay, these guys are genuinely proud of their cars and maintain them well... but i see what you're saying

window shopping thread for Vauxaul Astra driver :p

the two guys i'm speaking to now have Evos that look like they're in excellent condition even though they're heavily modded...these guys have spent fortunes on them....they regard their cars with pride and joy, they get a bit irritable if you question them too much

here's two to show you, let me know what you think

You're aren't buying either of these cars.

What's all this talk of Turbo Timers?

The car has a boost controller. Not a turbo timer. All (99.9%) of EVO's will have a boost controller if it's been remapped.
Letting the ECU control the boost is how you get more power from them.
