Mitsubishi Shogun ???

Depends how involved you get mate. If you saw me in the Landy pic i posted ages ago I half filled that with water, Literally. :D I had to stand on the seat to get my bum out the water. I tend to go out with the best of intentions to preserve my vehicle but once on site i act like a child & head for the worst area. I was only on site in the landy 7 minutes before i half filled it with water & had to climb on the roof to get the strap I was thrown.
I don't want to go swimming in the Shogun though as that's what ***** them, I'll take it round the woods/trails/hills/climbs etc & just stay out the deep water, That way you could have your Missus in with you & still be cleann at the end of the day.
You see plenty of motors with wives & kids in them out having some gentle fun.
Being honest Mark it's about the only real Legal fun you can have & it costs peanuts it's simply down to you on how extreme you go.

Good excuse to post some old pics i reckon.

Give you some idea of what we get up to, Those pics are a mix of the Green lanes we know & a Pay&Play we went to. Superb cheap legal fun for Men. :D

We don't tend to go if it's dry mate as it's a lot tougher on the vehicles, Soft ground gives you a challenge & saves the motor funny enough.
As for people to go with pretty much as soon as you get into it you meet like minded people, Off road forums arrange local meets etc.
Last year I had people from, all over emailing me wanting to come along it's great.

What im saying is could you do a wuss day and not get to deep, just some steep inclines and bumpy bits say till i got the flavour?

I might just buy one like yours to have a go, then if i kill it its not a disaster, is SWB or LWB best? That Vitara seems to be making good progress too.

Yes mate you could take a Brand new fourby to a Pay & Play site & leave without damage, The beauty of P&P is you can see what's coming hang about watch others go first etc Cherry pick what you do & you'll have a laugh, Take the Missus & I bet she'll be Braver than you. In my experience women Love it but they want to take control, I have no prob with this as i love watching women drive.
Someone with your means should just go out & spend a grand on something prepped ready to go, You could even go Extreme & buy summit for Off road only & tow it there with your Cayenne. Loads of people do this & just park the road motor & trailer outside the P&P there's always Loads of room at these places.

Im gonna look into this, iv always fancied it.

What does preped mean, with the snorkel and stuff?

You want decent mud plugger style tyres on it & a lift, 2" is plenty then you maintain some road stability, Snorkel & a roll cage would be nice if you are going to get larey. You'd be surprised what you can get for under a grand.
I've had a Suzuki SJ extreme exterior roll cage 31's etc a Vitara pretty much standard & a Landy 90 with a lift snorkel & mud pluggers on. The SJ was unbelievable off road & went places no other vehicle on site went, Having the exterior roll cage made you feel invunerable so you just went mental in it, On road though it was like a tractor & i mean a Tractor. The Vitara off road was a good balance but if i bought one again i would get one with a 2" lift, snorkel & tyres & it would do anything you wanted & be cheap to run & maintain & be driveable on road. The Landy is a big old beast & you feel it off & on road, Mine was a 200TDi so a 300TDi would have more beef but has more to go wrong with an extra belt or two. Drove ok on road but not as good as the Vitara.
This Shogun i got is like a Rolls royce compared to the others I've had, Air con, cruise control, auto V6 3 litre Power :D Superb on road but bare in mind it still has slippers on it, Knobblys will bring some road noise & a few less MPG but **** that when you're having fun.
Apparently i can fit LWB rear shocks for a 2" lift on the rear & you can wind the Torsion bars up 2" on the front, That & a set of knobblys & I'm ready for some fun I'll just steer clear of the deep water.

2 Bucket seats, Full Harnesses, Tow points front & rear, Serious winch, Mud pluggers with spacers & arches, Home made but water tight & tested :D snorkel, Full exterior roll cage with Self correct system, Put it on it's roof & it rights itself, Fully Tested :D Completly road legal, I drove it to the Desert in Mansfield from Hinckley Leics :D
Sold it for a fair price of 800 quid all in mate, See what i mean. ;)

Mine is an auto, anybody should be able to pick one up for under a grand, looking around earlier there's a 93 with around 80k up it for 850 on Gumtree Leics.

Pick up sold @ 9am this morning & the fella gave me a tenner extra as it was Better than described, Never had that happen before.
He just rang me from the Motorway telling me how chuffed he is.
I'll be down my mates Tyre exhaust place first thing the morrow for me Knobblys. :D
I Love it when a Plan comes together. ;)
