Just noticed there's some gameplay footage around now so thought I'd post it

CLICK

There's a few mins there and also if you click Chapter 2 there's some more.

Looks pretty good. I've never really liked the 3D MK's as much as the 2D ones but this looks really great and smooth.

Clutching at straws on this one, which is a shame, because MK has always had the potential for a re-birth given one really decent new incarnation.
Doesn't look like that'll ever happen now.
I'll miss Scorpion, but he's an old dog these days, it'd be cruel to let him live on and suffer further.
Goodbye old yella gi....

Well after Deadly Alliance you got stuff like Deception and Shaolin Monks. It was all the same and yeah it was pretty poor because of that.

But a new next gen MK would be sweet. But they have taken out the gore. The controversy which made the game what it is. That would be like taking out the ability to have sex with hookers in GTA.

Plus I think Ed Boon is a ****. I dunno why. I think it's because he thinks he's still got it. When he clearly hasn't.

The gore isn't what made the MK games great, it's simply what initially got them attention. The later 2D MK's are easily some of the best fighting games of all time, even compared to today's fighting games, it has nothing to do with the gore.

It still has brutal fighting and blood just not the insane gore of the previous games. There's still finishers for example, but they won't be extreme like ripping someone's head off with the spine still attached. Doesn't mean they're not going to be brutal or awesome. Some of them remain the same infact, Scorpions fatality is the same as in all the other games.

Arguably the actual fighting in this game is more violent than the previous games (Mostly referring to the 2D games here). Could you drag someone along the floor and violently stamp on their face in the previous MK's? Could you throw them through a wall off the edge of a building then punch them on the way down and stomp them into the ground?

MK has always been about the gore (and at the time it was a good game because of it). Can't actually think of a time when a version of MK has been considered close to being the best fighter around.

Don't know what to make of this game, doesn't look great (and I don't really get the need to combine the two licences). I don't think I'll ever be able to get my head around Superman getting slapped around by some of the chumps from the MK universe. :p

lol seriously, if you think a bit of gore makes a game good then there's something wrong with you.

You obviously haven't played MK enough or gotten good at it and played against decent players, because then you'd realise why it's a great fighting game. Again mostly talking about the later 2D versions like Trilogy and UMK3.

It's funny, because they're basically both inferior to Street Fighter and Marvel, and I bet the game is equally nowhere near as good as Marvel vs Capcom.

There's only one idiot here if you don't realise that extreme gore would be very appealing to younger age groups.

MK's whole success is based pretty much entriely on the gore (But obviously you don't see that as influencing how people rate the game). At times it's been a decent fighter over the years, but so have many other games nobody remembers now. The only thing that seperates MK from a million other identikit fighters is the gore, and now it's so **** even the gore can't save it.

So you like the series (or more specifically one or two games from the series), good for you. You keep playing it while the rest of us continue to see the franchise for the joke it is.
