Well, it *is* an XR3i really - at least on the log book. Not seen one turned into a S1 RS Turbo before though.

I'm really not a fan of the Mk3 cabriolet but it looks in tidy nick, have fun.
 
Strange, I just picked up a S2 Escort RS turbo. I too always wanted one since i were a kid. I thought about posting in here but wasnt sure if i were ready for the beasting... LOL

The last one I drove certainly was - the sort of car you wouldn't want to jack up with the door open..... and that was with sills built like RSJs!

The village idiot in Windermere bought an XR3i Cariolet from the local scrappy. £300, he was going to get it running again.

It had no cills, the scrappy bought it back for £50.
 
How long before the engine blows up I wonder.

Is typical of them then to have massive gaps between the bonnet and wing then? if the previous was descibed as "mint"? Or is the bonnet popped?

Anyway, looks clean and im sure its a laugh, enjoy it.
 
Genuinely very jealous. I'd prefer it in a hard top, but god damn I love the car.

Trying to figure out if its a S2 lump or a Fiesta Turbo lump..

either way, i really need a Series 1 RS Turbo to add to the collection of old Fords i got.. Currently sit at MK2 Fiesta XR2 with Bike Carb'd 2.0 Zetec, Series 2 RS Turbo, MK2 Fiesta XR2. I just love the rusty beasts

Also what you gotta remember these things have panel gaps the size of a door frame from new. Bumpers were never straight.. Hell its a Ford from the 80's, it came with rust as an optional extra from new.
 
I think its a S2 lump, fiesta was the EFI model, this is one of the cleanest S1 i've seen and it still looks badly put together at the front.

Back in 98-01 these were owned by proper essex boys and boy racers and had a bad image attached to them, but the still commanded a higher premium over the S2. Now theyve moved on and the S1 RST has become a real collectors item for fast Ford enthusiasts. Really clean examples go for a fair bit on PH these days.
Nice find OP, needs tidying up at the front but looks a nice example.
 
I plan to tidy it up so wont be using it for a few months, so it is in a container for now in storage where i can work on it and get it nice i would like a proper S1 but this will make me happy enough im sure.

Oh and the bonnet was up in the first pic lol forgot to close it :)
 
I loved the ERST, but hated the cab, it was so rubbish to drive, give me a hatch any day, hell, I'd even have an Orion over the cab:p
